Twenty One

<Kaycee POV>

June 4th

'Kaycee, hurry. We've got to head into the store before we head down to the Lew's' I heard my mom screaming for the bottom of the staircase.

'Just give a minute' I said loudly before packing a bag with the essentials and sprinting down the stairs.

'I'm here' I panted as soon as I reached the bottom.

'You're gonna have to work out more,  if you're tired just from coming down the stairs' my mom chuckled which caused me to glare at her playfully.

'Let's gooooo'i said elongating the 'o' in go.

'Let me just grab my bag. Go ahead and get in the car, I'll be there in a minute' my mom said walking back into the kitchen. Shrugging my shoulder I walked over to the car with my eyes glued on my phone. 

My fans were just so crazy good at editing and making posts about me. I reposted a few onto my story before I opened the car door, and hopped in.

And soon my mom was inside the car with me. She turned the engine on before driving us to the supermarket.

'Okay let's see. Kaycee you take the vegetable aisle, and I'll take the savory aisle. Meet me back right here in ten minutes. Okay?' My mom said already walking away. We were currently at the store. And my mom was panicking that we were going to be late to the game night at the rate we were going at.

So she tried to make me help her shop. Key word:tried. I hadn't a clue on what to get in each aisle. So I jusy tried my best and picked out some of each. 1 broccoli, 2 bell peppers, 1 beetroot, 1 black carrot and a box of mushroom. That should be enough. Right?

It had been ten minutes and I was waiting for my mom at the till, where she told me to meetup. Looking around and going on my tippy toes, I finally saw a woman maneuvering her way through the crowd as she rushed passed everyone to get to me. I heard her say a few sorrys before finally reaching me.

'Sorry K, got caught up choosing which crisp would be best' my mom said unloading 5 giant bags of crisps and 3 bags of popcorn onto the checkout line. She looked over at me and then into me my basket. And she repeated these steps a couple dozen times, before her eyes lingered on me.

'K, what did you buy? Where is 1 broccoli, 2 peppers, 1 beetroot and 1 black carrot gonna get 6 people. This is our dinner K. Not just a lousy snack' My mom said stressing out slightly and rubbing her eyes.

'And a box of mushrooms. You can't forget the mushrooms' I said brightly, trying to lighten her mood. Seeing that she was still mildly rubbing her temples, I said 'it's fine. I'll go back and get some more'. 

But as soon as I was about to leave, my mom yanked my arm and said calmly ' we've got no time K, don't worry about it'. I could tell that she was still worrying about it. But I calmed myself down. Someone's gotta be the level headed one, here.

After paying for each  and every item we bought in the store, we got back into the car and my mom drove us back to our house to pick up Devon, my dad and Kylie, and then we drove over to Sean's house.

'So how's lover boy been acting, lately' Devon asked causing a gasp to escape my mouth.

'Stop it, and if you really must know, he's fine.' I huffed.

'Well, if he acts weird today, then just know that I'm not gonna let him live it down' Devon said cracking his knuckles.

'Stop it Devon. Please don't act weird. Please.' I persisted pulling on his sleeve.

'Well we'll just have to wait and see' Devon said smirking.

'Mom. Dad' I whined.

'In fairness to Devon, he's just trying to protect you. But if he gets out of control then I'll try my best to tame him down' my dad chuckled.

'No fair' I groaned sliding down on the car seat.

We arrived at Sean's house 30 minutes later, and I literally jumped out of the car as soon as my mom had parked it. God, my family were annoying. I ran towards the front door and rang the bell, and a second later Sean opened it up. He looked behind me and saw that the rest of my family were helping unload the food from our trip to the store.

'You were just so eager to see me, that you couldn't help your family unload the shopping' Sean teased bringing me into his embrace.

'No, they were just being annoying' I protested.

'Sure, whatever you say' 

'Stop it. You're just as bad as them' I whined, letting go of him.

'Okay okay, come in' he said and stepped aside to let me come inside, while he held the door open for the rest of my family. What a gentleman. Wait-what... no. He's dating Tate.

Sean's family and my family helped separate the groceries as we put it in its place. 

' a black carrot?' Sean questioned bringing the item out of the bag.

'That's what happens when you go shopping with K' my mom laughed.

'It's not my fault, I told you. You didn't tell me what to buy, so I just picked random things' I protested sitting down on one of the stools.

'Blame it all on your mom, Kayc' Sean said shaking his head. I rolled my eyes at him as I rested my chin on my elbows and watched everyone put away the groceries. We were like a family. A big, big family. 

The Lew's had always treated me with their utmost respect and kindness. They were truly like my second family. They were always here for us-for me. 

'So Ricebowl, what do you think we're  gonna cook up with a black carrot' Sean said bringing me out of my thoughts.

Boy, was I in for a ride.
