Thirty Nine

<Sean POV>

June 12th

'Um yeah... I was just wondering if you'd like to go to prom with me?' Josh B asked Kaycee, his hands stuck in his pockets.

Please say no Kayc, please. 

'U-um..' Kaycee started looking visibly uncomfortable.

<Kaycee POV>

Josh B looked down as he waited for my answer. Truth be told, I didn't really want to go to prom with someone-unless it was Sean- but I'm nearly 100% sure he wouldn't ask me. I mean, come on, he basically confirmed that he didn't like me that way. 

I looked over at Tahani. Her mouth was agape,  eyes popping out,  her bag dropped to her side. I bit my lip as I tried to look for some assurance from her, but no, nothing.

'So, is that a yes?' Josh B asked me snapping me out of my thoughts.

'U-um...'  I started looking everywhere, well everywhere except at Josh B. My eyes landed onto Sean soon enough. His hands were gripped on his bag as he fumbled with his feet. Say something, Sean.

'Kaycee?' Josh B asked me once more.

'O-oh right. Sorry. Um... I'm sorry Josh but no.' I mumbled looking up at him.

' oh um- that's okay.' Josh replied visibly upset with my answer as he pulled me into a hug. He left a second later as I stood rooted in my spot.

'You good,girl?' Tahani asked me.

'I don't know T. What if that was a mistake' I whispered felling tears brim in my eyes. Just great! I lost probably my only chance to have  a date for prom. I'm going to my first ever prom without  a date. Ughh. Someone please tell me that this is just a dream. Please!

'Well, why did you say no then?' Tahani asked me softly.

'I dunno, T. I mean, it just didn't feel right' I replied quietly as the rest of the gang walked up beside me.

'H-hey, looks like miss Kaycee Rice just rejected a date offer' Josh shouted.

'I really don't want to talk about it' I chuckled trying to lighten the awkaward tension in the room.

<Sean POV>

'O-oh right. Sorry. Um... I'm sorry Josh but no.' Kaycee said rejecting Josh's offer. Thank God. Thank you Kaycee. Yessss.

I felt a smile escape my lips as Julian pulled me over to her along with Josh.

'I think this deserves some Boba' Josh joked lifting an arm into the air.

'Totally' Kaycee replied sarcastically.

'It does. We need to celebrate the fact that you rejected a prom date... and because I'm really in th mood for some Boba' Josh answered laughing.

'Let's go, then' Julian triumphed Leading the way out. Everyone broke out into a conversation as    we made our way outside.

'Stop smiling, dude' Julian chuckled.

'I'm not' I debated.

'You should see the look on your face. You're all like eeeh-yayyy' Julian laughed making weird happy faces.

'I don't know what I would have done if she had said yes' I whispered.

'I do. You would have went straight back to the store and returned all those thingy majiggys' Julian joked. I rolled my eyes at his idiocity before hopping into his car alongside with Josh, Tahani and Kaycee.
