Lost Girl (Voltron Fanfic)

Thirty-two

-Keith-

I look at the Purple Lion as it's sitting next to the Black Lion. I walk past them and head to where everyone is.

"Has anyone seen Nat?" I ask, looking around the room at everybody

"Last I saw her she was sitting in Shiro's room," Lance says

"Give her some time. This is the second time she's lost her brother." Pidge says

"This one was from right under her nose as well," Hunk says

I look at the others then walk back towards to hall with our rooms. I walk past my room, stopping by to change into normal clothes.

I walk down the hall and see the door leading to Shiro's room open, Natasha leaning in the doorway as she looks at her brother's belongings.

"You know you make yourself worse when you do this," I say as I set my hand down hesitantly on her hip

She turns to look back at me, her dark grey eyes boring into mine as the recent tears start to dry up.

"I know." She starts, looking back into the room "I just can't believe he's gone again."

I sigh as I go to move my hand when she grabs it shaking her head.

"I'm glad it's you checking on me this time." She says

"Who else has tried?" I ask

"Lance and Coran." She says "I know they mean well but..."

"They don't know what it's like." I finish "Have you gotten any sleep since I left?" 

"You know I can't sleep. I keep seeing him." She says 

"Nat, you know that isn't a reason to not sleep." I say "You need that sleep. You can't afford another arm malfunction from lack of sleep. You already have everybody nervous." 

She sighs before leaning her head on my shoulder, staring at the floor. 

"I know, I just can't stand seeing him there and not seeing him actually here." She whispers 

"Let's go. You need to lay down. I'll move the rest of your stuff into my room while you take a nap." I say, taking her hand in mine 

"You make it sound like I have a lot of stuff." She tries to laugh

"I know and I can promise that you don't. It's literally just the rest of your arm cleaning thing and your armor." I laugh 

"That honestly could stay in the lab. Pidge found it at the mall and wanted to see how well it works for the Altean version of the arm." She says 

"Just promise me that you will get some sleep," I say 

"I promise." She says "I will sleep as best as I can." 

"That is all that I can ask for," I whisper 

We enter my room before I pull her over and place a soft kiss to her temple. 

"I won't leave until we are able to go out together," I say 

"You better not." She whispers 

"We can take out the purple lion for this search, maybe it can somehow connect with Shiro with it being the spirit," I say 

She looks at me before she nods. I look at her as I can see her eyes starting to droop. 

"Alright, you're about to fall asleep standing up." I laugh 

She sticks her tongue out before falling onto the cot, curling up into a ball. I walk over before grabbing the blanket and laying it over her. 

"I'll be back. I'm going to go talk to the others." I whisper 

-Lance- 

I hear the door open to see Keith come walking in, a distressed look on his face. 

"What's up?" Allura asks 

"Nat isn't sleeping, the blade wants her to go in and work with the Galra again, be one of our insiders," Keith says 

"She can't go back in. She's done it more than once. They wouldn't trust her if she were to show back up wanting to work with Lotor now that he is the ruler." I say "But..." 

"Don't even try to reason that. She isn't going on." Keith says "She isn't sleeping and we all know she won't sleep if they are to send her back to the Galra. She doesn't trust them and will stay awake to keep an eye on them." 

I look at Keith before folding my arms. 

"Shouldn't we let her make that decision?" I ask 

"She isn't going to find out about it. The blade asked for my opinion on it and I told them no. But if that is what Nat wants to do, then we can't stop her." Keith says 

I look at him before nodding softly. 

"Did you at least finally get her to get some sleep?" Hunk asks 

"Yeah. It probably won't be for long." Keith says "We all know now that Shiro... now that he's gone, she's going to take on his responsibilities. We need to find him before it gets too bad." 

Everybody looks at him before they agree. 

"Hunk, we should head out, we have those planets to save." I say "Keith, Pidge?" 

"No. Promised Nat we would take Purple and look for Shiro," Keith says 

"Looking for my family." Pidge says "But we will meet up with you guys later." 

I look at Hunk before he pushes himself off the couch and we head towards out lion. 

-Keith- 

I look at Allura as she walks over, studying me as she stops. 

"How is she really?" Allura asks 

"Not good. She's not ready to move on. We both aren't." I say 

"You both know that if we can't find him soon, we'll have to start looking for a new black paladin," Allura says 

"We'll find him. Just give us more time." I say 

"They're asking for Voltron. We can't keep this a secret much longer." She tries to reason 

"No, you're the one keeping it a secret. If it was up to me or Natasha, we would've told everyone by now. They could be helping look." I defend 

Allura looks at me before I turn around and walk towards my room. I see Nat sitting up, looking at her arm as it starts to glow. 

"What was that about?" Nat asks 

"What?" I ask 

"You and Allura." She says 

"Oh... just the fact about keeping Shiro a secret," I explain 

"Well, it kind of makes sense. With Lotor taking the throne, if they were to find out that we were down a paladin, it would give them a reason to target us even more." She says "Yes, if others knew about him being gone, they could help us look, but then again, it is keeping us safe."
