Thirty-four

-Keith-

"Natasha!" Katie comes running into Natasha's room as we sit on opposite sides of the room

"Katie, what's up?" Nat asks as she looks up at Katie as she huffs and puffs in the doorway

"It's working! Matt and I got it to work!" Katie says as she looks at him

"Wait, what did you guys get working?" I ask

"The way that we are going to be able to communicate with them while they are out there," Katie says

"The Garrison as of right now doesn't plan on letting us communicate with our families so Matt and Katie were working on something so we can at least stay in touch with Matt," Nat explains

"Hey, have you told Shiro about the thing?" Katie asks

Nat widens her eyes before she looks down at her wrist.

"How does Katie know about that?" I laugh

"She saw it one night when I was helping her do some studying the other day." Nat says "She promised that she wouldn't tell anybody."

"Keith already knows, he was with you when you got it. He has the same saying in his." Katie laughs

"How did you know that?" I ask

"I know my stuff when it comes to you two. I also know that you two are more than just friends." Katie laughs

"Katie, I think that is quite enough." Nat shushes "I haven't really told anyone about Keith and me."

"Well, everyone is picking up on it. Especially Matt." Katie says

"Katie, I'll see you at dinner." Nat hurries before looking at the ground

I watch as Katie laughs before she runs off toward her house as Nat slowly starts to look up. I look at her before I start to laugh.

"You know we should really tell Shiro before he leaves." I laugh

"I plan on it, I just like to have this one secret. When things go public, it makes things harder for you. Especially with James and Lance." She says "Being related to the fastest pilot there is nowadays doesn't really give me a private life."

"Shiro would understand that," I say

She looks at me before she smiles and lays down, her head in my lap.

"Are you ready for this?" I ask

"Shiro leaving?" She questions "Not at all."

I look at her before leaning down, placing a kiss to her forehead.

I shake myself out of the thought before I look at the console in front of me, leaning over the controls.

"She isn't going to keep up the act much longer..." Kolivan says "He's starting to make decisions that she doesn't agree with."

"There's also a rumor that Zarkon is coming back," I say

"Where has that come from?" Kolivan asks

"Honerva herself. She told Natasha that her and Lotor shouldn't get comfortable on the throne." Allura says

Kolivan shakes his head before he nods.

"Alright, we'll be in touch soon. We've been keeping an eye out for Shiro but there hasn't been anything yet." Kolivan says

"Alright. Thanks. We appreciate it." I say before hanging up

-Lance-

I watch as Keith walks out of the room, his usual quiet demeanor slowly starting to come back as he heads towards the lion.

"I'm going for a fly. I'm supposed to be meeting Nat soon. I'll be back before too long." He says

I watch as he disappears before I look at the others.

"Something's not sitting right with me and this whole Zarkon coming back," I say

"Didn't we defeat him?" Hunk asks

"Yeah, you paladins did, but the witch must have found a way to bring him back," Allura says

"If he comes back because of the witch, how much danger would that put Nat in?" Pidge asks as she looks up from her computer

"I don't know. I don't think Zarkon would remember her betrayal." Allura says "But the witch might tell him about it."

"So we are going to need to get Nat out of there soon." I say "If it isn't already too late."

"Don't say that!" Pidge almost yells

"Pidge, I'm sure that she'll be fine." Hunk says "I don't think Lotor would be dumb enough to try and hurt her."

"You never know. Lotor seems to be the jealous type." I say

"Like somebody else that we know." Pidge laughs

I look over at her before she looks back down at her screen.

"Guys, we have a Galra battle fighter heading towards us. Get ahold of Keith and tell him that we need him." Coran says

-Keith-

I look through the lion's eyes, looking over the ship before I stop.

"Guys, that's not just Galra..." I start "That's Shiro..."

"What? How can you tell?" Lance asks

"Just trust me," I say

I feel the black lion start to fly forward before gently grabbing the ship before flying back towards the castle.

I get out of the lion before I see Shiro come stumbling out.

"Shiro!" Everyone yells

I look at them before watch Shiro.

"Why don't you go get some rest. You could look better." I start

He looks at me before slowly starting to nod. I watch as he walks towards his old room before I turn to the others.

"We need to get ahold of Nat. Let her know that Shiro is safe." I say

"Of course. But how are we supposed to get ahold of her?" Hunk asks "She's told us that we can't reach out to her when she's with Lotor."

"I'll try to get ahold of her. Everybody, go get some rest, we're going to have a rough next few days." I say

I look back at the black lion before walking towards my room, my hands behind my neck.

I look at the screen in front of me as I wait for Nat to answer the call to her lion. I see it end itself for the third time before I start to shake my head. I hear a knock on the door before I look up to see Shiro stand there.

"You doing okay?" I ask

"Yeah... yeah, I'm doing fine. Now that I'm out and moving again, I was wondering where Nat was." Shiro says

"She's with Lotor." I say "We're trying to get ahold of her, but it hasn't been successful."

Shiro looks at me before he slowly starts to nod.

"Well, the rest of the team is ready for the details on the next mission when you are," Shiro says

I look at him before nodding, turning the screen off before walking towards the control room.

Something isn't right...
