I entered the kitchen, in desperate need of my black coffee. Janvi was already in the kitchen.
"Please make me some black coffee. I am in desperate need of it. I have to video call my patient and he would run away from the computer if he sees me like this." I said, resting my head on her shoulder like I always did.
"You are looking like someone has killed the love of your life." Janvi said, patting my head.
If someone had killed Jasper, I would have snapped his neck as soon as I got my hands on that bastard.
Wait, what? Why the fuck did I think of Jasper first when she said 'love of my life'?!
There will be no one who would be the love of my life for the sake of hell! Am I going mad? I don't believe in love and that kind of shit. Because it's exactly what I said. Shitty.
"Why are you thinking so much? Here, have some of my special coffee. Your brain isn't functioning well." She said, heading towards the dining room.
"I am sorry that I said those words during dinner- Hey!" I gasped, offended when I realized what she said and walked into the dining room behind her.
But she was telling the truth. If I was functioning properly,I would have chased her around the house as soon as she said that.
"So… when are your wedding bells?" Janvi asked, sipping her special coffee.
Never. If I knew he's gonna get us fake engaged and create drama in my life, I would have killed Jasper as soon as I knew he even tried to think about it.
Wish I could say that. But instead I had to say, "We haven't figured it out yet. He asked that question out of the blue. He himself said that he wasn't going to ask me until 8th November." I hoped that she wouldn't remember what it is today.
"Which would have been today… wait, isn't it your birthday?" She asked and I paled. "Oh yes! It is 33rd birthday of you and -" she stopped when she realized what it is today. The realization was evident on her face.
"Let's go out for lunch today." She said with a fake smile.
"Janvi, if you want you can go back to your room and rest. I will take care of the kids. Just don't show your frustration if they show up in your room." I offered and she smiled sadly.
"Yeah, I need some rest. I am warning you though-"
" 'If you fulfill each and every wish of my kids, I am going to drop your laptop into the ocean.' " I finished her sentence. She knew that I am obsessed with my laptop but never knew why. Good thing though.
She stood up and left for her room. And as soon as she left the room, I lifted the dining table cloth and pulled the kids out.
"How many times do I have to tell you three that it's wrong to hide and listen to elders' conversations?" I said, twisting Ray and Soha's ears.
"But we were playing hide and seek!" Ray exclaimed.
"If you three were hiding then who was seeking you all? My ghost?" I asked rhetorically.
"I am coming to find- Hey, why didn't you all hide?" Jasper asked. I left their ear and turned to Jasper.
"Because she pulled us out of our hiding spot!" They exclaimed. He looked at me as if they told him that I killed their kittens.
"And that's because they were hiding under the table while Janvi and I were talking." I replied angrily.
"Well, I can't argue with your maasi for that. It is a bad thing to do, kids." He said politely. I gave him a look which said, 'Oh Really?'. which he ignored. He and Polite? Has the hell frozen over?
