I never felt so much hatred towards one person. I didn’t even know it was possible to be able to feel such an awful emotion so greatly. But yet, here I am, anger and hatred coursing through my veins as he smirked at me. I wanted to punch that damn smirk off of his face.

It all started at a party. A new years party, I was in grade 11, and had just turned sixteen a few days earlier. My friend was throwing the party and my other friends had dragged me along. I had tried desperately to get out of going, but my friends were relentless. I remember that night as clear as day, the night I met my worst nightmare.

“Hey there pretty lady,” A male voice said into my ear as I squished my way up the stairs of my friend’s overly packed house. His breath smelt like alcohol and weed. I turned my head to see a decently attractive guy staring at my ass. His brown hair was thoroughly messed up, dark brown bloodshot eyes checking out my figure. His eyes finally traveled up to my face. “Why don’t me and you spend some alone time upstairs?” He winked causing me to blush. I narrowed my eyes at him and continued making my way up the stairs.

“Hey! I was talking to you!” The guy called from behind me. I spun around causing him to run right into me.

“Listen buddy, I don’t know who you think you are but-” I started but he cut me off.

“Parker Stevens.” He said extending his hand. As if I wanted to shake it, who knows where it’s been.

“Alright, Parker, stay the hell away from me, alright?” I said, turning and walking away.

“Feisty are we?” He said from behind me. I spun back around to see him wag his eyebrows at me.

“Yes!” I shouted back at him. A few people glanced over at me, giving me weird looks. I glared at them, causing them to look away.

“Hey, it’s almost midnight, give me a break.” He said as I heard the people downstairs begin to count down from 20.

            “19!”

“I don’t even know you.” I said shaking my head at him.

            “15!”

“Well, I sure would like to know you.” He said coming closer and winking at me again.

            “12!”

“You’re disgusting. Get away from me.” I said, stepping away from him, but bumping into more people who gave me dirty looks. The hallway was jam packed with people, giving me no where to go but stand here with this random jerk-faced asshole.

            “9!”

“Let’s start over,” Parker said, extending his hand once again. “I’m Parker Stevens.”

I hesitated for a moment before reaching out and putting my hand in his.

“Grace Tailor.” I said shaking his hand.

“HAPPY NEW YEAR!” The screams erupted around us.

“Happy new year, Grace.” He said, pulling his hand from mine. Before I could stop him, he leaned and kissed my lips quickly before dashing off in some other direction.

I gawked at his disappearing figure, unbelievably stunned at what had just taken place. It took a moment to kick in, but I realized how much I hated Parker Stevens even though we had just met. He had stolen my first kiss and was probably drunk and high when he did it.

Parker Stevens, I can hold a grudge.
