Walking through the halls towards my locker, I spotted a few people staring at me. Did I have something on my face? Oh god. Please don’t tell me I have something on my face.
I saw Briana waiting at my locker, looking at her nails to pass the time.
“Is there something on my face?” I asked her quickly. She jumped and threw a hand on her heart.
“Jeez! You scared me!” She closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them and looked at my face. She furrowed her brows, “Other than your mouth, nose...eyebrows...eyes...No; there is nothing on your face.” I sighed, thankful.
“Then why are people staring at me?” I mumbled spinning away the combination on my lock.
“Maybe because we had a huge fight in the hallway with the hot new kid.” Briana laughed humourlessly.
“Guys!” I heard a female voice yell. It sounded exactly like-
“Oh, here comes Carrie.” Briana said. I spun around coming face to face with a pair of excited blue eyes.
“I can’t believe you know the new kid!” Carrie bubbled. Her blonde ringlets bounced in place. I smiled tightly. I had known Carrie since fifth grade and had never really preferred her company. She was way too happy for my preferences. And, she was also quite bipolar.
“Yes, and we don’t like him. So, now run along Carrie.” Briana snapped at her. She made a shooing action with her hands and I widened my eyes at Briana. Was she crazy?
“I was talking to Grace, back off fire-engine!” Carrie spat. Briana narrowed her eyes at Carrie but knew well enough to not fight back. See what I said about bipolar?
“Anyways, Grace, how do you know him?” She said, smiling up at me. Carrie was a mere five-foot one without heels, which she normally wore every day, and even with that height she was extremely intimidating.
“I met him on new years.” I said, turning back to my lock, unable to have those eyes pierce into my own.
“Oh! Well, do you know if he’s single?” She said excitedly. I shrugged, placing my books back into my locker and grabbing my wallet so I could grab some lunch.
“Hey Grace.” I heard a male voice say. I looked over my shoulder to see Joseph standing behind me with some friends. He waved and I smiled at him.
“Grace! I was talking to you!” Carrie whined. I rolled my eyes and shut my locker revealing her small figure.
“I don’t know him. I just met him, Carrie,” I said and she looked disappointed. I spotted Parker strolling down the hallway and smirked to myself. Oh and here is my revenge. I looked down at Carrie. “Actually, he did mention something to me. He said that he had a crush on you. I think you should go talk to him, he’s right over there.” I nodded towards him. Ah, poor Parker. Carrie squeaked gleefully, and fluffed up her hair. She turned away from me, sticking her ass out and her boobs up. I bit on my lip, holding back a laugh that was about to erupt from my chest.
“Parker!” She squealed. His eyes traveled over to her as they widened in shock. He gave her a once over and turned around, walking back the way he came. “Wait! Parker!” Carrie yelled as she ran after him.
I heard a burst of male laughter come from behind me and I turned to see Joseph and his friends cracking up. Briana was shaking her head at me, holding back a smile.
“He asked for it.” I said.
The guys finally finished up their laughter and I took the opportunity to hug Joseph quickly. He whined as I put my arms around his waist, squishing his arms into his side. Briana was laughing her head off at his response. When I pulled away I patted him on the cheek which was now bright red.
“Let’s go grab lunch.” I said, pulling on his arm. He grunted his response and I laughed at him.
“How was your break?” Briana asked Jacob as we walked down the hall towards the cafeteria.
“Pretty good, you?” He responded casually. Since when did Briana and Joseph talk so casually like this? Normally, they were making fun of each other. Or pushing each other around. I glanced at them suspiciously as they carried on a civilized conversation.
“What’s up with them?” Asked Matt, one of Joseph’s friends, from beside me. So I wasn’t the only one who noticed. I shrugged, looking at them as Briana playfully shoved his shoulder.
“Are they flirting?” I asked Matt. I glanced over at him, black hair falling into his eyes as he nodded with his eyebrows raised. His green eyes met mine as another round of Briana’s flirty laughter filled my ears. I gawked, unbelieving of what I was hearing.
“Dude,” Greg, Joseph’s other friend, said while bumping Matt’s shoulder. “Looks like something happened over the break. Joe’s hard for her.” He snickered, having us joining him. Briana looked over her shoulder causing us to go into fake coughs to cover it up. She narrowed her eyes at me as I gave her a small wave. She turned back around and continued her conversation with Joseph.
“GRACE!” I heard a male voice yell from down the hall. I cringed and turned to face an enraged Parker.
