as sloane slept jj couldn't help but think about what pope has said. pope wanted to talk to jj but what about.
it was around 4 o'clock when jj finally got the nerve to call pope.

what happened between pope and jj you may ask? honestly nothing.
kie and pope dated for awhile causing jj to resent being around them and all their pda. after awhile kie realized it was just too weird for her to be with pope. he was her best friend and nothing more. this caused a slight strain in the friend group and without john b to force them to hang out pope and jj just drifted and, you know what happened with kie.

"hey." he said nervously pulling the phone to his ear.
"hey dude." pope said trying to pretend nothing had happened between them. "honestly i just wanted to check on you. i know john b dying hit you the hardest out of all of us. but when i ran into kie at the restaurant she explained what went down between you two. you just stopped talking to her? what the fuck dude? you know she was..."
jj tuned pope out the moment he said dying. john b was not dead. john b went missing at sea and he was alive somewhere. he was alive and he would believe that till the moment he saw a body.
"jj?" pope asked as he heard no response to his long rant.
"look. pope i'm happier right now then i've been since the thing and kie is the least of my worries." he said guiltily. of course he still cared about kie but she pretended he didn't even exist. he still had no clue what kie had told sloane. sloane knew that would fuel his rage and she didn't want that to happen.
"what happened to pogues for life?"
"john b happened and you know that pope."
"yeah." he whispered sighing at the thought. "okay enough emotional shit, does the jj maybank have a girlfriend?" pope asked eagerly.
"haha, sloane. umm i guess she's not officially my girlfriend." he said feeling guilt for not having already made her his. "but pope oh my god this girl is perfect. she surfs and is actually good she moved her from california and she lives in the cut, in her own house, by herself." jj spat out the last part when suddenly he realized, why did sloane live by herself? where was her family? who was she, other than the girl who jj wanted to spend the rest of his life with?
"that's awesome jj. i'm glad your happy bro."
"thanks p diddy." a nickname jj had given pope years ago. they sat on the phone in silence for awhile almost taking in the fact that they were friends again before jj heard sloane stir. "hey dude my girl is awake, i'll talk to later?"
"yeah totally. see ya j." he said hanging up.
jj walked toward the room where he left sloane. preparing himself to ask about her life as much as he didn't want to pry. if he wanted the girl he should know everything about her, right?
"hey mamas." he smirked at her wearing his shirt and nothing else. how could he have a serious conversation with her when she looked like that.
butterflies filled sloanes stomach as he said that.
"hi" she whispered toward the boy who had started to climb back into bed with her.
"can i talk to you?" he said pushing the hair in her face behind her ear.
"of course."
little did sloane know she was about to be vulnerable to jj.
