"Every setback is a setup for a come back." By Regina Hall (from the 'Best Man Holiday.')

KENDRA'S POV.

"She lost the baby."

Now I had no idea what was going on here, and the last thing I remembered was me, in water, with Emily.

I could hear, but my eyes were shut so tight it took everything I had to open them up.

Everywhere was suddenly very quiet.

The scary kind of quiet.

And it really killed me that I couldn't open my eyes.

"What?" he whispered.

I knew that voice anywhere.

It sounded so broken and defeated, but I was sure it definitely was him.

Ethan.

And that was all I needed to force my eyes open.

They weren't prepared for the light though, so I ended up hissing.

Only then did I realize how thirsty I was, my throat was parched.

"Oh My God! Someone get a doctor." I heard my mom scream.

I felt someone checking on me, and it didn't take long to realize it was Kenna.

Of course it was Kenna, but what was she doing here??

Hold up.

Did she say call a doctor?

I didn't think this through, but where was I?

Kenna helped me up into a sitting position and I looked around the room.

"Ethan..." I know it was probably stupid of me to call out to him but, I had him here, with me, that meant something right?

He didn't look at me.

He didn't even spare me a glance.

At first I thought this still had something to do with his anger towards me, but when I saw the liquid trail from his eyes and down to the floor, I realized this had to do with something else.

"Miss, I need you to tell me the last thing you remember." Had this doctor been here the whole time??

Now that he mentioned it, I couldn't remember much, not even how I got into a hospital.

But something was different.

I felt different.

It felt like I was empty or like I lost something.

And then I spotted a face.

Warren.

The restaurant, the parking lot, a hospital....

"Congratulations Mr. King, your girlfriend is seven weeks pregnant."

.....

"It's past 9 pm, you're not stable yet... Let me drive you home... "

"... I am an independent woman..."

An independent woman...

"Ethan Veron... Ex-boyfriend..."

The headache, the dizzy spell...

And...

The accident.
