With the exception of the doctor, the mood of the room seemed to brighten. Although the new questions and concerns popped up, it was kind of nice seeing these two together. In this moment, they really felt like "besties".
---
The auburn smiled, brushing a strand of her hair back behind her ear.
Olive smiled, wanting to do the same with her hair.
Eepop clutched both hands on the hospital bed, Olive's hands now in her lap. Her smile became a little lopsided and filled with wonder.
"So..goodbye, for now?"
Olive smiled, raising her hands up.
'Yes, but I see you again.'
Yes, they would see each other, but to Eepop's knowledge, in a couple of days. She couldn't take two days off early, not if she wanted to keep up that financial stability. However, she did have something for her.
She dug around in her purse, pulling out something enwrapped and to Olive, it made her hungry. Handing Olive a chocolate bar, she smiled.
"I actually did have something for you to eat."
Olive's eyes glistened, observing. She wasn't going to eat it while Eepop was still in the room, though. That would be rude. Instead, Olive clasped her fists, kind of smushing the snack a little.
'Thank you!!'
Eepop laughed, and headed for the door whilst waving.
"Aw, no problem. But anyways, bye. See you in two days' time, okay?"
Olive nodded eager.
And with that, the door closed softly, just leaving the two of them again. Olive looked over to the doctor, still apparent in that dazed state of his. She rested her head on the bed, observing him and wondering. She wondered about a lot. The first thing she thought about was this departure of hers. If anything, she didn't want to leave. She just wanted a bit more time, to fully take in everything. And dare, she think, finally release that those overwhelming feelings for him. She didn't even fully have an idea of where they emerged from. Sometimes, she wondered if he felt the same, but then she thought about it even more. Just because he seemed a bit more tolerant of her, doesn't mean he loves her. So for now, she would just have to wait and see how it it all unravels.
Olive watched as the man looked pained throughout his "slumber" .
He groaned, making her pout. She reached her arm out to him, wanting to hold his hand. First the index finger.
Then, the ring and the thumb, and finally, her secondary index and her pinky. Soon enough, her fingers intertwined with his and it was like he broke free from a curse. Pupils no longer dilated, but in fact awake and the first thing they jolted over to?
Her.
Did he make a sound?
No.
Did he roll his eyes or transform them into sullen' ocean blue eyes?
No.
You could've sworn his thumb caressed her hand gently, and they just admired one another. The curious green seemed to ooze into the fatal blue and warp into it perfectly, and all it took was one unifying stare. Despite her peaceful gardens and his stormy fields, they sought a sort of comfort in this very moment. And they both liked it.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but closed it back. He tried again, but the doctor didn't speak the words that were truly on his mind.
"..Sorry."
It was like he didn't like or simply despised the word. It looked like it took him effort to say it .His comforting gaze seemed to falter, and she tried to get it to stay. Olive signed on her left hand.
'Why?'
"..I just am."
Olive wanted to pry more, but she didn't know how.
'For what, doctor man?'
"That's not my name. I just am sorry."
'So what is your name?'
He got silent at that. He had occurred to both of them that Olive still saw his alias as "doctor man". He didn't want to tell her. To be honest, he was afraid of what she would do. He was afraid of how she would react. He didn't want her to leave. He didn't want to even imagine to heartbroken expression on her face. He didn't want to see her push him away and tell him that she never wants to see him again. And even if it were to happen, he'd rather experience it later, so at least he could say that he had a fun time. I mean, he was an ass to her whenever his eyes met up hers back then. When they "conversed" back then, it usually started off with either a jealousy-filled insult, harsh critism, or Olive did something that appeared wrong to him. And now, here he is, seeking comfort in her warm green eyes, holding her hand tightly, and telling her I'm sorry.
He has changed.
He didn't change a lot, but that's what he, Pavol, his sister, his mirror friend and everyone else thought.
"You know what? That is my name. Call me that."
And upon hearing that, she smiled and the whole room became sunshine for him.
