Instead of responding to Link's question, you just stood there with your lips parted. Hesitation was obvious, but you knew you had to speak up at some point. Crossing your arms, you flickered your eyes down and stared at a rock that was dug into the dirt. There was no point in lying so you took a deep breath and nodded, though you kept your eyes on the ground. "Yes," you said while trying to clear your throat. You didn't want to look up, but you did to see Link's reaction to your words.

The boy's frown deepened as he took a step back. Link brought a hand up to his neck and rubbed it, his eyes never looking at you. "And you never thought about telling me this?" He scoffed in disbelief. He forced himself to glance at you, and when he did a fiery look brightened his usual soft eyes.

You gulped and quickly looked down, feeling a wave of guilt wash over you. You should've felt relieved to know you didn't have to hide who you truly were anymore, but seeing Link so bothered about it crumbled every part of you. "I was...," you replied quietly. Strands of hair fell over your face and you couldn't help but feel somewhat protected when your vision of him was blocked.

"When?" Link asked. His hand naturally moved up to brush away your locks, but he stopped himself. Scolding his actions silently, he brought his hand back down and continued looking at you.

You had no response to that question. Sure you would contemplate telling him every once in a while, but you never did. Now you felt horrible for not doing so. You sighed and slowly cocked your head up as you moved your hair behind your ears. "I don't know," you decided to say. You figured it was better, to be honest now, but seeing Link's frowning face made you think twice about it.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Link asked, his voice rising slightly. "(Y/n) this isn't something you should've kept from me!"

"I know."

"Then why did you?!"

"Because I didn't know how you'd react!" You half-shouted. You would have shouted a bit more loudly, but you stopped yourself from doing so when you noticed many people's eyes on Link and you. Heat rushed to your cheeks as you averted your gaze to the ground once again. You took a quivery breath in and folded your arms, trying your best to ignore the looks you were receiving and the hard stare Link gave.

The blonde boy's expression softened just a bit. Though he was not at all happy with you keeping such a big thing from him, he didn't exactly want to have this conversation amidst many people. He looked around, frowning at the villagers that gave you certain looks before glancing back at you. Link then took a few steps back and grabbed Zephyr's reins, handing them to you. "Let's discuss this somewhere else," he said plainly. His words sounded a tad harsh, but he didn't mean for them to be that way.

Your heart clenched tightly when you heard Link's tone of voice. You weren't at all used to it and you wished he could've spoken more gently, but you figured you deserved it. You peeked at the reins and only nodded as you took them into your hands. Zephyr must have felt your gloominess because the minute you tried to mount her she snorted and turned around. Her snout gently nudged you, but you paid no mind to it. Instead, you placed your foot on the stirrup and hoisted yourself onto her back.

Link mounted his horse and took out his Sheikah Slate. He checked to see where the two of you could go next before speaking up. "Follow me," he sighed as he kicked Epona's sides, guiding her toward a trail that led out Kakariko Village.
