Evre Janelle Lennox

The red jean jumper she wore proved to be maybe a size or two too small as her ass cheeks spilled out the bottom of the shorts, but if she liked it, I loved it.

She swiped a tube of gloss over her lips, making sure they looked good before turning to look at me.

"I look cute?" She asked, flipping her ass-long, medium sized box braids over her shoulder.

If looking like a hood rat was cute.

I nodded. "Yeah."

She smiled, pushing her tube of lip gloss in her front pocket. Before she did, she looked my way. "You want some?"

I shook my head, my shiny ass Vaseline would suffice.

She gave me a look, before muttering something under her breath, and then heading out her bedroom ahead of me. "Come on."

I huffed, standing up from her bed with my phone clutched in my hand. Why this girl decided on putting my life in danger I had no idea.

Girl be quiet. Ain't like you got shit else to do. You done dodged bullets before.

Once again, she had me heading back up to that damn trap house, ready to pop up on Darien over an argument that they had. And of course, once again, I was tagging along; for two reasons really.

Number One being that I didn't have anything else to do.

Number Two was hoping that I ran into Artist again.

My shy ass really didn't even plan on saying anything, just sneaking glances like I did last time, until it was time to leave again.

Like a weirdo.

The door to Roni's—Destiny's mom—room was closed, along with the door to the bathroom, so I assumed she was taking a shower.

She never really tripped on Destiny's whereabouts anyway, so it wasn't like we had to ask for permission to leave the house in the first place.

Everybody and their momma seemed to be out and about in Destiny's hood, as they all wandered around, looking for something to get into or to just be seen.

I walked behind Destiny as she unlocked the door with the fob, and we both climbed into the front seats of the car.

"Is that..." I muttered, squinting as I leaned forward.

Hell nah. I'm tripping.

I sat back as Destiny pulled away from the curb, wondering why I'd thought I'd just seen my daddy parked in his Lexus, outside Roni's house when it wasn't his week to get Destiny.

Immediately, my mind went to put two and two together, but I hoped I was wrong.

We pulled up in front of the broken down house, with all the niggas hanging on it.

"Imma stay in the car." I mumbled, letting my seat back.

Destiny twisted her face up, shooting her eyes to me. "You always do," she said under her breath, getting out and closing the door. Then she walked around and switched hard up to the house. "Y'all seen Darien?" She called loudly, walking up and then going into the house as they directed her.
