Just A Myth

Lila and Ewan were just standing still watching the band plays. After that, they went on another events.

Shane leaned in and whispered, “Friend, cooperate naman. Alam mo na...” she signalled towards Patrick.

Napailing na lang siya sa kaibigan.

“Mag-ingat kayo," ika niya.

Inaya naman siya ni Ewan na kumain. He was telling story about his lost T-shirt na kung saan-saan napupunta at kung sino-sino ang nagsusuot. The T-shirt he had was black with a white phoenix printed on it. Its wings slightly fading. He said that he once found his manang wearing it. Binigay raw iyon ng anak nito. But he's sure that it was his. He even saw a street kid wearing the same thing. He called it the brotherhood of traveling shirt.

"Feeling ko talaga naiwan ko 'yon sa drycleaning at di ko na matandaan kung sino ang kumuha." He chuckled as his farfetched anecdote ended.

Lila only rolled her eyes, not believing what he just told her. There's probably tons of people selling the same shirt. But Ewan was persistent. May presyo raw iyon at branded. Lila argued that it doesn't mean other people can't afford the same brand of shirt. In the end, the two rested their cases.

“Pop tarts? Macarons? Cheesecake?” sunod-sunod nitong tanong.

Umiling lang siya. She has been silent for awhile. It's supposed to be a great night but she had to ruin it by over thinking things. But she can't help but do so.

Ewan asked her again. “Hindi ka talaga gutom?”

She still answered no. Napatingin siya dito. He's happily munching on the pastel colored cookies like a child. It seems like he has such a sweet tooth. He offered her again.

“Okay, ako na lang ang kakain. Huwag kang mainggit sa macarons ko ah.” He chuckled.

Lila's smile faded. Papalabas na sila ng plaza. This has to end, she thought. No one gave her one but herself. And she will do it again if necessary.

“Will... Will you stop this?” she whispered.

“Itigil ang alin?” he asked, confused.

Napahinga siya nang malalim. No, it isn't just like that night outside the sports complex. Lila knew it's more than that.

“Ito. Itong ginagawa mo. Sabi mo kapatid ang turing mo sa’kin diba? Then act like it.”

Nawala ang ngiti sa mukha nito.

“What’s really the problem here?”

She tried to find the right words to say. But she's not good with that. Sana pinlano niya na lang ang sasabihin. Sana may script. In case, she choke on her words. But there will always be none.
