The Calm

"Furious cat,” the captions says.

It was a photo of her. Nakasimangot na nakatingin sa camera dahil ayaw niyang magpakuha ng litrato ngunit mapalit ang binata.

Ilang linggo niya nang hindi nakakasama si Ewan araw-araw. Nagsimula na ito sa sa pagre-review para sa board exam nito. Todo suporta naman siya sa nobyo. Kada linggo na lang ang kanilang date ngunit wala namang palya ang mga tawag at texts nila sa isa’t isa.

But it didn’t stop her from missing his mischievous grins, his unsolicited movie references and his cheesy pick-up lines. Kaya naman ay random niyang binisita ang account nito. Napapangiti siya habang tinititigan ang feed nito. Noong una ay hiyang-hiya siya nang i-post siya ng binata ngunit walang araw na di nito pinuno ang sns ng mukha niya at appreciation nito sa kanya.

"Sleepy head. Ngalay ang braso pero sige dahil sa'yo naman. I think my arm workouts were for this purpose,” another photo says.

This time it’s a photo of her sleeping with no grace at all. Nakahilig siya sa braso nito at tulog mantika. She begged him to not post it but he still did it anyway. There’s no stopping him. Tuwang-tuwa pa ito tuwing naiinis siya.

"Hey cutie! Only look at me." She was smiling from ear to ear, wearing her toga, holding her diploma and the huge bouquet on the other. It was the photo he took at their graduation day. She remembered him calling her within the ocean of people. His eyes were twinkling that day as he muttered, “I’m always gonna be your man.”

She clicked the recent photo he posted of her. He has not been uploading since. The photo was taken at Casa Marchesa. She was standing between the lines of strawberries, smiling carelessly and showing him the biggest piece. The caption he put, "You're so small. I can fit you right in my pocket but I won't do that. The world needs to know you."

And it was everything she could ask from someone.

Lila went to a several interviews. A lot of them were just for formalities. Most of the job offers wanted her to start as early as she wants. It was great that she have all of these opportunities. But she isn’t sure of her decisions.

Papalabas na siya sa building ng kumpanyang nag-interview sa kanya. She considered the job because it has great benefits. Baka ito na yata ang pipiliin niya. Ngunit may kung ano pa ring bumabagabag sa kanya. Sometimes, she asks herself, if this is what she really wants to do for the rest of her life.

Nakatayo siya sa kahabaan ng avenue at naghintay ngunit walang Ewan na dumating. She waited for another 10 minutes before she left. Later at night, he messaged her.

Hindi agad nawala ang ngisi sa mukha niya. He’s probably tired and beat with all of the studying and the review that he’s been doing. Sabi niya naman kasi rito na kaya niyang umuwi pero matigas ang ulo at gusto pa rin nitong sunduin siya.

Binuksan niya ang story at tinignan ang mga ipinost ng mga kakilala niya. She saw a picture of Ewan with some of his friends. Looks like they were having fun.

“Umalis ba siya kagabi?” pagtataka niya sa sarili.

Maybe, he needed to unwind as well.

“Hi!” bati niya sa binata nang makitang papalabas na ito sa review center. She decided to see him. Miss niya na talaga ang binata kaya siya na ang gumawa ng paraan para makita ito.
