I slept to the fond memories of the insanely awesome Sangit. Some time in between the dancing and doing bhangra , Pia and Chirag had snagged the DJ set up from the guy himself , and started playing pure Punjabi loud songs and Spanish (Shakira and Luis Fonsi level) songs alternatively.

Maybe this is why I woke up with  nice headache today. And to add to the list of the things that could go wrong in Mehendi ceremony , a headache is not welcome.

But , anyway , as the woman of the Event , I made myself a huge cup of strong espresso to energize myself. This is how Sam and Yashi ( my cousin whose the same age as Sam ) found me.

" God , di." Sam put down my lehenga for today on the bed , " You look quite ....high in spirits today."

" Yup. Like you totally have a hangover, " Yashi nodded , " From a Bachelorette party we are never going to be invited to."

" How old are you again?" I mumbled , and sipped my coffee.

They sighed dramatically  , and Yashi pulled out her phone , excusing herself.

My stomach grumbled , and I pulled out a box of nuts from the minibar.

The door opened a little , and Chirag poked his head in .

" Hey Mira, heard you need some burst of energy , today.." he grinned cheekily.

" Don't you dare play Descpacito again!!"I held my hands up in surrender.

I can literally still feel the pasito pasito going on and on in my head.

" Hey !" Chirag pouted , "  Come up here . This one's for you , BTW."

I stood up , and grabbed a packet of caramel pecans. He led me out , to the small lawn facing our cluster of rooms. There , in the center stood two , dangerous looking...

Dhol players!

" Sardarji , shuru !!" Chirag gestured , and they started beating the  dhols into an energetic  beat , that instantly made me awake.

"What is this duffer!" I yelled over the music .

" Stop speaking , " Chirag yelled back ," And started dancing!"

And then he started doing the weirdest bhangra ever - jumping on the balls of his feet , doing the moonwalk ,  and the disco-disco action as well. I just followed suit , and many people who had been intrigued by the Dhols' sounds joined us. My friends were the first ones to excitedly takeover the dance floor , and somehow  , the previous night's fatigue just went away.

I laughed when Dad and Satish uncle ( his cousin ) started their full on Punjabi dance , and Mom facepalms herself .

" Thanks Chi-Chi." I swung my arm around Chirag and say.

" Don't. Call.Me.THAT !!" he moaned. Anyway , that's what Nisha Masi called him in our toddler years. Chi-Chi , like the bird's twitter.

" Chi-Chi!!??" Pia burst into laughter and poked him .
