chapter forty three

Had she ever been more nervous in her life? Maybe once or twice but nothing really compared to what she was planning on doing. Basing her actions and thoughts on what Jennie chose to share with her in the letter that was written for Lisa, the woman ended up in her living room gathering strength to confront the person she had been sharing five years of her life with. She knew she practically had no room to blame Evelyn for cheating with someone else, she herself had been doing in for eight months straight with Jennie and she had even reached the point of having no regrets or embarrassment at all. What Lisa wanted to know was who that person was, why did Evelyn chose to cheat and how long it had been going on because if it turned out that she was doing it longer that Lisa was then she really had no excuse for it.

Lisa took a deep breath when she heard the bathroom door open again, Evelyn's footsteps leading back to the space that Lisa had been sitting for God knows how long waiting for her to walk out. "Babe, I didn't know you were home" Evelyn said and her voice sounded almost surprised to see Lisa and not the good kind of surprised at all. Looking up from the paper that she was still holding in her hands Lisa let her eyes lock with Evelyn's blue ones, the amount of anxiety that was in them was something that her fiancé couldn't even hide from her. "Is something wrong?" Evelyn asked and walked over to the side where Lisa was sitting at, her eyes nervousness increasing as Lisa kept silent more and more. She just kept looking at Evelyn wanting to see how many times she would talk by herself, how many times she would show how unsure and worried she was.

"You have to confront her and if it's true you have to call off the wedding" Jisoo spoke with logic, putting all things aside and the face called Jennie, she had to advice her best friend to do what would be best. She would advice her to do the same thing even if Jennie was not involved in Lisa's life at all, the situation remains the same. This was between Evelyn and Lisa only. "I know, but what about Jennie? She's not picking up" Lisa voiced her other concern and looked at her phone momentarily, her heart racing at the thought that maybe,just maybe this was not real and that Jennie would call her back and ask her to over to her house. It had only been a day, just one day without talking to her at all, and two days until the wedding. "This is about you, you're supposed to get married in two days to a woman that is now pregnant by a man." Jisoo let the voice of logic inside her head talk again this time getting a bit colder and stricter with the things she was saying.

"Jennie has nothing to do with this"

Lisa brought back all the things she had the chance to talk about with Jisoo, her best friend advising her on what she should and should not do. And she had agreed, she found her best friend right on everything but the hardest part was actually executing what they had talked about. "Sit down," Lisa sighed and pointed at the couch right opposite from the one she was currently sitting on, Evelyn nodding her head as she followed Lisa's instructions. She didn't dare to do the opposite, Lisa didn't seem like she was being funny at all at that moment. "I wanted to talk to you about something and I'm not going to waste any more time" Lisa started off and unfolded the paper she was holding, soon bringing a few more papers that she hid behind her back, papers that looked more like scans that you do in a hospital. "Could you please explained what these are?" Lisa asked and pointed at the scan that in reality was an ultrasound.

Evelyn froze, the color from her face had been vanished completely as she kept staring at the ultrasound she had taken the same day at the hospital that was now resting on her coffee table. "Where did you find those?" Evelyn asked without taking her eyes off of it, her hands now shaking from how nervous she was. She hated to do this, she really did but there was something in Lisa's gut that was telling her that she was being blind way longer than Evelyn was. She couldn't believe that she happened to cheat once and get pregnant, if they were comfortable enough with each other, whoever this person was, to have sex and not use protection then Lisa could only imagine how long this should be going on for. "You didn't hide them well enough, so here comes my next question... How long?" Lisa asked and took a deep breath, the sound that their clock made was the only thing that could be heard in the living room besides their breathing.
