The downpour of rain pounded on the roof of your's and Eugene's home. It had been nearly twelve in the afternoon, the two of you still hadn't even thought about getting out of bed. I mean, besides bathroom breaks. It was just one of those rainy days where you and Eugene both had a day off and just decided to have a relaxing day of cuddling in bed. The silence and the heavy tapping of the water droplets just made it even more soothing.

You blinked your eyes open. Eyelashes fluttering slightly as you took in the view in front of you. Eugene had an armed tossed over waist loosely while his eyelids were shut. Only the sounds of his slight inhales and exhales of air. Your lips curled into a soft smile, letting a yawn escape. Taking in the moment of peace and silence. A night without a nightmare the past few months was a rare occurrence between the two of you and it was needed.

Seeing the soft look of comfort and peace within your lovers face as he slept, was all you needed. Sitting up, you rubbed your eyes with ball of your hand. Throwing your arms into the air to stretch. Letting out a soft groan and hum as your back popped in a satisfying way. Gently throwing the covers off of your legs, trying your utmost best not to awaken the sleeping Cajun besides you.

The cold air hitting your bare legs, sent a shiver up your spine. Swinging your legs over the side of the bed, letting your toes hit the cold wooden floor beneath you. But as if on cue, a calloused hand wrapped round your forearm tightly and yanked you back down into the bed. A small squeak escaping your lips as an all two familiar voice spoke out.

"Stay, it is too cold in the bed without you," Eugene spoke, in the same groggy and scratchy voice he had every time he woke up. Pulling you into him, making your the little spoon with your hands tightly around your waist once again. With a huff you tried wiggling away, but his tight grip wasn't letting go.

"Gene, I gotta get stuff done. Even if it is my day off from work, that doesn't mean other stuff doesn't have to get done," You said, still attempting to wiggle away from your boyfriend's tight grasp. But to your struggle, he just tightened his arms, but not too tight to cause any pain, and buried his face into your hair.

"No, I'm not letting you go. It's too early to get out of bed," he mumbled into your hair. You scoffed as you stopped wiggling. giving into the stubborn Cajun. He let out a satisfied hum, causing it to tickle the back of your neck. Releasing a set of laughter from your lips. Feeling Eugene's small smirk against the same spot, he did it again. Wanting to hear your laugh more. Which he received.

You turned your body so you were now facing him. A smile on his lips and love in his eyes. You wished every morning was like this. But a lot of times they weren't. Ever since Eugene had gotten home from the war, for almost for a month straight, he woke up early in the morning, the sun wasn't even peaking into the sky yet, and he would wake up in cold sweats, shouting, and even some nights crying. You saw a side of Eugene Roe that no one else did. And seeing him happy was amazing.

Cupping his face, bringing your nose to touch his. A grin came to your lips as his right hand trailed to the back of your scalp, running his fingers through your hair. Playing with a few strands. His eyes were bright this morning, compared to the rainy sky. A soft kiss was placed against your lips.

"Is it raining?" he asked softly. You nodded your head in response. He sat up and stretched. "Even better of a reason to stay inside all day and cuddle up on the bed," he answered, flopping back down on his back. You laughed as you went and laid your head on his chest.

"You're very energetic this morning, Genie. Any specific reason?" You asked softly, resting a hand on his bare chest. Which caused him to jump slightly.

"First of all, your hands are ice cold. Second of all, I got an amazing sleep and third, can't I just be happy with my Y/N?" he spoke, diving in to place a kiss on your lips. Still, he just seemed out of the ordinary in a way. Like he was being almost too happy.

"As much as I love how sweet you are being, come on, Genie. Spill. I read you better than a book. What's on your mind?" You reached for his hand and looked into his eyes. You could see the cogs in his brain working. His eyes darted away from yours for a second.

"It's just... just.. Just the past few months I've been home, you have been putting up with me," he paused. Your eyes soften and you pursed your lips. He leaned into your touch. "Y/N, I'm sorry for all I've put you through. The sleepless nights, the recent mood swings, the nightmares. I feel like I haven't been doing enough for you. After all you do is work for me, cook for me, love me. I feel like I could be better," his voice weak. At first, you didn't know how to respond. But soon it all came to.

"Oh Eugene. I don't 'Put Up' with you. I love you. And with or without the nightmares and sleepless nights, I will stay with you. I work for us, I cook for us, Everything I do is for us. All I want is to make you happy. If you are happy, I'm happy. No matter what I am with you one hundred percent," I reassured, placing his face in your hands and kissing his lips softly. You could almost feel the worry slip away from him. When you pulled away, Eugene had small smile on his lips.

"Now Mr. Roe, I'm gonna start making breakfast. And after we eat, we can cuddle some more. How about that?" You offered, standing up and stretching. The Cajun chuckled and stood up as well. Following close on your heels while you walked to the kitchen.

"Yes ma'am, that sounds like a mighty fine idea!"
