'3 Years Today'

Part 2/7 of The Stanly Hotel

The alarm goes off at 5:15
"Ughh babe turn it off" I nudge colby who grunts in response
"Do you want a shower?" Colby asks
"Yeah but you go first" Colby turns the alarm off as I get up
"May as well shower together, be quicker. Also, happy anniversary baby" Colby walks around the bed and kisses me
"Happy anniversary mi amor. And ok but we are actually taking a shower"
"Yeah yeah come on" after our shower, I grab my glasses and put them on. Normally I would put in contacts but not this early, I put on some comfy clothes (my gym clothes) and brush my hair before putting it up in a bun. There's a knock on the door
"Yo you guys ready?" Sam asks
"Yeah I'm coming" I yawn pulling the suit case, Colby and I packed all our stuff together. We walk out the apartment and go pick up Jake from his then Corey before going to the airport.

We grab some food and wait to be boarded. Finally once we are on the plane, I'm sat in between Sam and Colby. I take out my hand luggage and take out my makeup
"Really Talia?" Sam asks
"What? I wasn't gonna do it at 5:15. I had to have a shower as well"
"I love how your in gym clothes" Jake laughs from behind us
"At least I'm comfy for the flight unlike Brock here who decided to wear suspenders, plus I'd rather be comfortable during the investigation"
"You're so weird" Corey chuckles
"No I'm practical" I pick up my foundation and start applying it
"You know, you don't need makeup" I glare at Colby
"I know" I face my mirror and start blending in my foundation "But your camera picks up everything, it's scary" the boys laugh and I continue to apply my makeup. Not long later we arrive in Colorado and are walking through the airport when we get stopped by a group of 3 girls
"Oh my god, hi can we have a picture?" one of the girls asks
"Sure" Corey says. The girl asks someone to take the photo for us. We take the photo
"Thank you so much I love all of your videos"
"No problem. We love talking to you guys" I smile
"Can I just say thank you for not being one of those influences who have to make their Instagram perfect it really helps to see you have struggles just like the rest of us"
"My life is chaotic so my Instagram just follows" I laugh "but being serious I've never wanted to be one of those who edits their photos unless it's for a reason. I just want people to know that the perfect Instagram body doesn't actually exist, I have cellulite and stretch marks just like most girls. No matter what remember you are all beautiful"
"Thank you" we wave and say goodbye
"And this is why I'm in love with you" Colby takes my hand and we make our way to the Uber that's picking us up.

"Stanley Hotel please" Colby says as we all get into the Uber
"Stanly? Ok" the man says uncertain. I look at Colby worried
"Do you know anything about the Stanly Hotel" Sam asks
"Not really. My son went to a concert there I just dropped him off and picked him up. It's a nice building. So what are you guys going for" the man looks through his mirror
"We're actually going to see if it is actually haunted" Sam says
"Ahhh I see. I was a little confused to why you had the camera, I thought you were filming something else"
"Oh god" Corey laughs.

After a 40 minute drive we finally arrive at the hotel. We say thank you and head out the car and we start to do a little ritual to protect ourselves, I'm holding Colby and Sam's hand, Sam is holding Corey's, Corey is holding Jakes and Jake is holding colbys
"Ow Colby your holding my hand to hard your rings hurt" Jake complains and I laugh "Talia how do you hold his hand especially when you wearing rings" I shrug my shoulders
"You get used to it I guess"
"Ok let's take a deep breath and have positive thoughts" Jake then starts to sing 'ring a ring a roses' spinning us around
"Ok ok let's go and get checked in before we piss off any spirts before we even start our investigation" Sam says
"Ahhh a voice of reason" I say making the others chuckle. We walk in to the hotel
"Hi how are you guys?" The receptionist asks
"Good thank you how are you?" Sam asks
"Good. Can I get a name please"
"Golbach. We came here because we heard it was haunted. Is it?"
"It... is" the man says
"Do you think that for a fact or do you not really believe?" Sam asks again
"I think it for a fact. They don't have the money to fake it. People think there's holograms in the hallway and stuff like that but no"
"Have you seen anything?" This time I ask
"I've see a lot of really cool pictures and I get a lot of eerie feelings in certain rooms definitely"
"I was in the carriage house with a coworker who was getting some stuff out of there and so I took some photos. There's a shape there and a shape there that we're not in the photos before or after this one" one of the other receptionists says showing is a picture on his phone
"That's insane" Sam says
"Ok your all checked in now. It says that there was a request for a bottle of champagne as its someones anniversary today"
"That would be them two" Jake says
"How long?" The man asks
"3 years today"
"Well congratulations on 3 years and what a way to spend your anniversary"
"Thank you" Colby says as Sam takes the key card and we walk away from the front desk "see I made sure we were still celebrating some how"
"Yeah yeah" we walk up the stairs and see loads of photos and mirrors on the wall "anyone else creeped out?"
"A little yeah" Sam says. We carry on walking around the hotel
"I'm having flashbacks to the shining so much right now" I say
"The little boy on the trike?" Colby questions
"No the twins down the hall way" I shudder and carry on walking while Colby laughs.

We walk back to the stairs with the mirrors
"Dude do you know what this room is?" Corey says with tears in his eyes
"No?" I look at Corey confused
"The mirrors are facing each other. You aren't supposed to have mirrors facing each other, they say that is worse than an ouija board"
"Wait didnt you tell me something about a portal or vortex or something" Colby says pointing the camera to Sam
"Errr yeah"
"Wait there's a vortex?" Corey says still looking scared
"Yeah yeah that's right here"
"Guys look" Jake calls
"Oh god look. Mirror, mirror" Sam points to the mirrors at the end of the hallway facing each other
"I. Don't. Like. This. Any. More" I say jumping
"The girl who went from not believing in anything paranormal is now scared shitless" Jake laughs
"Hey, blame Brennen and Colby"
"What?" Colby kinda yells "what did I do?"
"Took me to suicide bridge and made me play with an ouija board" I say pretending to be mad at him by turning my back to him and folding my arms, of course I'm trying not to laugh
"Errrr your the one who basically said 'screw it' and found out she has a demon attached to her not me" Colby laughs
"Probably the shadowman" Jake says then walks off "guys look someone's left food outside" Jake picks it up
"Ok first of all put that down you don't know what's on that, second of all what's the shadowman?"
"Babe you know. The one that's followed Corey since he was like 10, right brother?"
"Yeah I'm sure we've spoken about it before"
"We have, kinda, but you've never given it a name. You would just say it was a spirit"
"I guess after you stoped believing I stopped telling you about it"
"Guys let's carry on looking round" Sam says, we agree and walk outside to the hedge maze which gives me flashbacks to the film. Colby and Jake reenact the scene where Jack is chasing the little boy with the axe (btw I've never watch the shining so if this wrong I'm sorry) they then chase me saying redrum
"Ok ok stop now because your freaking me out" we carry on exploring the grounds and the hotel, we're shown some photos of a ghost in one of the mirrors.
