Isabelle

"Goodmorning," Ashton whispered, gently rubbing my tummy.

"Why do you both do that?" I said, smacking his arm, "Do not touch me,"

"Sorry,"

"Where is Kaykay?"

"She got paged into work, she will be back soon. Do you feel okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Your tummy feels a little swollen,"

"No it's not,"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I am sure, leave me alone,"

"Nope," he chuckled, "We need to talk,"

"Nope,"

"I think we do, because you are all teary eyed half the time, and that's no good,"

"You have known me about half a day,"

"And that's long enough for me,"

"Well everything is different now,"

"Yeah,"

"So that is why I'm sad,"

"I thought you might be a little bit happy to be here,"

"Why? I haven't heard from Kaykay for 13 years, then suddenly she just comes and takes me,"

"But she sent you things all the time,"

"I never got them,"

"And is that her fault?"

"No," I sighed, turning away, "No,"

"Are you sure you feel okay princess?"

"Yes! Stop being a parent,"

"Because I am a doctor, I could give you advice,"

"Please, please, please, leave me alone Ashton. Before I get mad,"

"I do not think getting mad if justified, but I respect your honesty. I'll make breakfast, come down in ten,"

Once he was gone, I went to the toilet and changed into a sweatshirt and leggings, heading downstairs to the kitchen.

He passed me some water and ushered me to the table, presenting us both with pancakes and berries.

"Kaykay is gonna be so jealous,"

"When will she be back? I thought you were off work,"

"Her patient was having complications... I um, I think they might've passed away now,"

"Oh,"

"She will be okay, it is... well it is part of our job,"

"That is a little dark,"

"I'm being honest," he smiled, sipping his coffee, "How did you sleep?"

"Good,"

"That's great, I hope you like your room,"

"Thanks for painting it white,"

"I can't imagine how miserable a pink room would've made you,"

"Hey," I giggled, "I am just having a hard time. It doesn't exactly make you feel loved when your parents call you a problem and let you go off with your sister who is a stranger,"

"I get you,"

"There's just a lot going on. I've been alone all these years, wanting other people... now I really need some time alone to process it. Please let me just have time alone,"
