It was past midnight when he came into your shared apartment. You were asleep on the dining table chair, waiting for his arrival. He said he would be back before you went to sleep, but his flight was delayed and then his phone died. He couldn't even message you. When he finally called you from a stranger's phone, you didn't pick up. He didn't think you would anyway. You rarely picked up any stranger number.
He watched you sleep peacefully, mentally cursing himself for not being here with you. He could've said no to the movie, but you insisted he did his work. He wanted to stay here with you, help you decorate the apartment. He wanted to, but you were persuasive.
His gaze roamed around the apartment and he took small, quiet steps to take a look around. When he had left, you two had only a mattress to sleep on. He left just two days after moving in with you and it made him swear under his breath. It's been over 8 months since he left.
The apartment was simply decorated but it was perfect in every way. In every way it reminded him of you.
He made his way back to the dining table where you let out small snores. He slowly pulled out the chair across from you and took in your beauty.
You were so calm and relaxed that he didn't want to wake you up. Of course, he had to now or later. He didn't want you to pull a muscle.
His eyes filled with tears. He was horrible to you. Leaving you alone, calling you once a week, making you stay without him. He didn't want that.
He wanted you to stay with him, talk to him in person everyday, and never leave you alone.
He went through his thoughts and made up his mind. He was going to take a break with you for your happiness.
Let you enjoy life as he gets his deals in order. Let you have the happiness you deserved. Let you have fun. Let you fill your bucket. He was going to let you go. For you.
