''Fixated''

''What do you like, Vernaise?''

I've been thinking whether to get a cheesecake or a carrot cake. They both look tasty and very much mouth fulfilling so I'm torn between the two. I want to get both, but I also know that that I won't be able to finish it so I need to pick just one.

I sighed and turned to Carlos.

''What will you get?''

''Coffee.'' he answered simply.

I rolled my eyes. Typical him. My eyes went back to the glass shelf where they display the cakes and pastries.

Ang hirap palang pumili kung pareho mong gusto ang dalawa. Especially if you only need to choose one because you can't take two.

Godness, I don't want to be in such a dilemma again!

''Any drink's fine with me. But for the cake, I'll get a cheesecake.'' turo ko sa cake na gusto. Pagkatapos ay tinuro ko din ang carrot cake. I smiled at him sweetly. ''But get this one, too, for yourself.''

Hindi ko pinansin ang tawa niya sa huli kong sinabi.

I looked for my wallet but stopped when I realized that I didn't bring it with me. Nasa bag ko iyon. At naiwan ang bag ko sa sasakyan niya.

''Can I borrow your key?'' I asked him. He still had that amused look on his face.

''Why?''

''I forgot my wallet.''

''Don't worry, Apollo will pay.'' tinuro niya si Apollo na nasa counter na.

Medyo nagulat ako. Ang bilis niya, ah? He was just beside us a while ago!

Nauna kaming umupo ni Carlos. Apollo followed us after he ordered. But a few more minutes, he went back again to the counter to get our order. Aside from the two cakes, there's two black coffee, and an iced tea. Dalawang beses siyang bumalik dahil hindi iyon nagkasaya sa isang tray.

Carlos did not even stood up from his chair to help his cousin. Mas nanuna pa itong sumimsim sa kape.

I tilted my hand to the side and shook my head..

Tahimik lamang ang aming mesa. Sometimes Carlos and Apollo would talk about their other cousins. I knew it's their cousin because I keep on hearing Void Maxwell's name. And sometimes they would talk about business that I can't really able to grasp since I'm busy eating my cheesecake. And as much as I don't want to listen to their talks, I can't help it. I'm literally just in front of them.

I took a sip on my iced tea. I'm almost done with my food when Carlos pushed the plate of his carrot cake towards me. I saw that it's still whole. I don't even think he touched it. Hindi ko siya nakitang kumain kanina.

''What?'' medyo maarteng pagkakatanong ko.

''Hindi ba gusto mo iyan?'' tanong niya. At mas inilahad na iyon sa'kin. ''It's okay. I don't eat sweets anyway.''

''But it's yours.''

''You only made it look like it's mine.'' he said.

Suminghap ako pero kinalaunan ay tumawa. He got me there, huh? Carlos' really something.

''I'm already full, I can't finish it. I only want a taste.'' pag-aamin ko.

''Give it to Apollo after.'' aniya at muling uminom sa kanyang kape.
