Chapter 8
''Dream''

I bid my farewell to Solenn before following Javier in front of a red SUV. Napatitig ako sa kanya nang pagbuksan niya pa ako ng pinto. He even held the door for me, when I was still staring at him.

''Get in.'' he said in a distant tone.

Ngumisi ako at sumunod na lamang sa kanyang gusto. He closed the door beside me before going to the other side. I didn't know he does have a gentleman side. I thought the only thing I'll get from him is his anger.

Tumunog ang cellphone ko kaya naging abala ako doon. I got a few text from Daddy, asking my whereabouts. And a text from Rhys. I replied to both of them. May sumunod pang mensahe si Rhys.

Rhys:

I'm Sorry, Vernaise. Babawi ako sa susunod.

Ako:

It's okay, no need to say sorry. Thank you, Rhys!

Humingi siya ng paumanhin dahil nasa bayan pa daw siya at hindi pa siya makakabalik agad. He was willing to drive me home, if he was just here.

''Stop texting and put your seatbelts on.''

Muntik nang mahulog ang cellphone ko dahil sa gulat. I glared at Javier. He looked irritated again. Huminga ako ng malalim. Napansin kong hindi pa pala kami nakakalis. He didn't shout at me. But his voice was a bit harsh.

Kinapa ko iyon sa aking gilid. Nahawakan ko na sana iyon nang makaisip ng ideya.

''Javier, it's hard.'' I said, acting having a difficulty in pulling it out.

He didn't answer.

''Can you help me?''

''Pull it harder.''

''Mahirap nga!''

I heard him sigh before leaning to my side. Nagkatinginan kami. Our faces was only inches away from each other. He looked away and tried to fix my seatbelt. Siya ang naghila noon at nagsuot sa'kin. Before he could even go back to his seat, I already gave him a peck on the side of his lips.

''Thanks.'' I said softly, teasing him a bit.

He looked so frustrated when he sat up properly. Ilang beses niya pang pinasadaan ang buhok bago nagpakawala ng malalim na hininga. Tumawa ako. He gave me a stern glance before he started the engine.

''Don't do that.''

''I was just being thankful.'' I shrugged, hiding a smirk.

He didn't glance at me. He looked serious while driving. Kunot ang noo at madilim ang tingin sa kalsada. Hindi nga lang ako sigurado kung dahil na naman iyon sa ginawa ko.

''Do you do that to everyone?'' he asked after a while.

I arched my eyebrow. Bakit may nahihimigan ako sa kanyang tanong? Or am I being delusional?

''Minsan...''

''If you're grateful to someone,'' he trailed slowly. ''--don't do that. Just say, thank you.''

''Why?''

''Just don't.''

I smiled. ''Okay.''

''Okay?''

''I'll do that.''

Hindi na ako dumugtong pa ng kung ano. Tumahimik na lamang ako dahil medyo natuwa ako sa interaction namin ngayon. I can feel some small changes. Maliit at maiksi man, kahit papaano ay meron. Kaya ngiting-ngiti ako habang nasa byahe.
