A/N: Holland's 'Home'

For my foreign/privileged readers that may not know what some of the rough areas look like in the UK, here's examples to show where Holland and Paris (and CJ) are living.

The Area

A small borough in North East London called Chackney. High poverty rates/unemployment, houses/flats are mostly council estates, high levels of knife crime/criminal activity, high population of residents having some sort of addiction.

The Block

Many of the flats are used as drug dens and trap houses. In this estate there's 3 zones, each containing 2 blocks of flats. Zone 1 and zone 3 are 'war zones' containing two rival gangs. It's common in rough areas of England, like London to have upheavals such as postcode rivalry.

The Flat

Holland worked very hard to build his life and rebuild the flat he grew up in.

He paid lots of money to renovate each room, but did so with his determination and hard work. What was once a mouldy bathroom was now simple and fresh.

The kitchen was a massive achievement for Holland and was the longest to be renovated. He helped the builders pull everything out, which he didn't ask the council for permission. No one did checks on the block.. ever! He had a plan to fully buy off the flat so ownership was his, since he's been living in it all his life. He had to wait an extra year for the agreement to be valid. 

He was most proud of his deep oak/redwood cabinets, since they were a rare find for his budget. Holland and Paris made sure the house was spick and span, doing a spring clean regularly.

The living room was chic and feminine, being Paris' idea. Themes: soft grey, silver and pink. Originally there was a purple carpeted floor, but that got tacky over the years, so it was removed during the renovation. Holland couldn't afford to renovate everywhere at once, so saved up money and made a budget ahead, focusing on a room at a time. All together renovations took 14 months.

Last but not least, the bedrooms. When their mother lived at home, Holland and Paris shared a mattress that was in scruffy conditions. Paris slept with her older brother until he got to the age of 14. At those times he was able to buy Paris a proper mattress with some bedding. At 16 he brought her and himself proper beds. Their rooms were relatively simple, because the plan was to renovate them last. When Paris was 11/12 she painted a strip of a wall pink to test out the colour, but decided she couldn't be bothered to paint her whole room and Holland refused to help her with it. In the end, they didn't do much to their bedrooms accept from add a few items like a bedside table and a lamp.
