HI LIK CHICKEN NUGGETS! I FINALLY POSTED YAYY! I SWEAR TO GOS THIS TOOK FOREVER TO WRITE 😩 It's like twice as long as by previously longest chapter. This broke the record. Omg I'm never writing so long again. It's exhausting and I'm not even gonna bother to check for any mistakes. Also Joel's a sweetheart and I love him sm! 😍 He's the cutest!! Also gonna apologize in advance for this crappy imagine 😬

Boy skipped around, weaving in and out of Joel's legs playfully as he wandered around the light green expanse. Several times, the clumsy man had almost tripped over the dog. Years of being trapped under the bunkers felt claustrophobic, stale air, dark surroundings, everything about the atmosphere felt stuffy and dull. For once, nature was actually tempting for a guy like Joel who barely liked the outdoors. He preferred to draw, even in school, never wanting to join his other friends in playing sports or participating in outdoor activities. It was a surprise that the leaves were still a crisp light green, rustling as the winds brushed past them. The radiant sun hung high up in the brilliant blue sky. It didn't remotely resemble a world that had been tragically struck by a monster apocalypse. The world had receded into the more primitive era though outside of nature abandoned and dilapidated buildings were still scattered in every area which used to be meant for human civilization. The air had a comforting freshness that provided Joel's lungs with its long-yearned rejuvenation.

"Boy, you're seriously gonna make me fall soon." Joel chuckled, reached down to pet Boy's head. It barked playfully as if it had agreed to the man's remark.

Suddenly, Joel felt the sharp force of gravity tug him down. Before he knew it, he felt a sore pain shoot through his back, reaching all the way to his skull. The concentrated scent of dirt filled his nostrils as he lay sprawled on the ground, enveloped by dirt walls that were several meters high. Beyond him was a gaping opening that revealed the sky. Boy's head carefully poked out from the edge, one of its ears folded as it whined.
