Sweet Tooth [Ushijima x Reader]

As I arranged the dishes, I realised it would be awkward not to serve Ushijima anything. He did not order for himself for a reason.

I took each dish one by one. I served, the boys looked excited. Hinata tried to take a picture, and few wanted to dig in, other's tried hard to wait for other dishes to arrive so they can start together.

Once again, "chaos", but the boys were so bright and lively. Although nobody noticed, I saw Ushijima slightly smiling as he looked over the chaos. He did not say anything to them, just allowed them to be goofy.  The boys thanked me. I could see Miya being surprised and complementing the dish.

"Ushijima are you sure you chose these dishes for us because this is BANG ON" Bokuto exclaimed. The boys nodded in unison.

"I think that pretty waiter helped you, right?" Miya was teasing. I blushed. I rarely get called pretty, but I guess I'll accept it because Ushijima nodded carefully.

"Ok, this is good. It has pickles" Sakusa acknowledged the food. Hinata was munching and tried to sneak in some Kageyma's food. Bokuto hooted while he took the first bite.

I was glad they enjoyed my recipes. Although I learned it from Boss, I added a few of my signature touches.

I saw Aran being worried, "Ushijima-san...why you're not eating anything?" "Yeah we are supposed to be celebrating us reaching Finals" Yaku exclaimed.

"I agree," Hinata said.
"Now, I think about it. I have never seen Ushijima eating junk food or sweets." Miya widened his eyes. "Talk about dedication," Aran remarked.

"I am not hungry," Ushijima spoke. It was a lie because he said it while looking at the food.

"I think he is not eating cause the food here is not healthy." Sakusa exclaim.
"...or clean" Hoshiumi joked. Sakusa almost hit his head. It was funny.

"Who cares? This shit slaps. I want to come here again, tonight" Rin said.
"No!" Ushijima suddenly spoke out of nowhere. The table got silent a little. "I mean, we have a meeting early morning tomorrow. You all should be near the hotel." Ushijima instructed.  

"Okay, whatever you say, captain," Miya spoke. I signed a relief.

"I still think Ushijima-san should eat something. The cute waitress might feel bad..." Bokuto started whispering. The started gossiping with each other.
"Yeah, how rude it would be. You ordered for us, and she helped us. But you refused to eat." Aran spoke "In Japan, it would seem rude..." Yaku explained.
"But this is Canada," Ushijima replied. I think his head is thick.

"Oh, lord! Just order something, anything from the menu is fine." Miya instructed.
"Something or anything?" Ushijima asked. I almost choked on my own giggle. This guy is definitely living in another dimension. I saw Miya giving up.

"Leave it, he and Kageyama only eat volleyball for meals" Hoshiumi joked.
"What? I AM EATING CURRRYYYYY" Kageyama yelled.
"Hoshi should eat in general cause Argentina's middle blockers are taller than his ego." Rin dragged Hoshiumi. Hoshi got furious and snatched Rin's parfait.

"Dont minds him Hoshi; Rin can barely block my shots." Hinata stuck his tongue out. Laughter followed later.

However, poor Bokuto looked at Ushijima concerned.

I decided to go to the table to clear a few things out.

"Hello, is everything fine? Should I get anything else?" I ask, my eyes focusing on Ushijima.
"Yes. What is the healthiest thing you got here so our Captain can eat it? Please don't say Salads?" Miya asks.
"I can get him our protein baked souffle" I reply. "But I am not hun-" He tried to speak.
"You get free complimentary desserts with our souffles. There's an offer going on" I said. There were no such offers, and I just made it up so Ushijima can eat.

The boys heard complimentary desserts and jumped on Ushijima pressurising him to get the Souffles.

"But Captain here don't eat sweets." Aran points out.
So I lied again, "The souffle is not sweet. It's baked with whey protein, hence no sugar. Plus its a savoury dish."

"Okay," Ushijima agreed.
"YES LETS GO. USHIJIMA-SAN finally eating with us." Aran spoke.
"Okay, I'll be right back," I reply.

I got the souffle. It was sweet. I removed the powdered sugar topping. But the inside was filled with sweet creme Brule.

I served.
I saw Ushijima's eyes light a bit. I knew others didn't see through him. I think they were not under the assumption that this giant man is actually into sweet things.

The boys got busy with eating. Happy to see their stoic robotic captain is finally enjoying human things.

Undisturbed and unbothered, he took a bite. He did not show any expressions, but the next bite happened within a few seconds. He really enjoyed it.

He realised I lied to them, for him.

He finally opened the note, the 60 dollars inside.  "Thank you for the tip, but I cannot accept it."

The boys were finally done. So was Ushijima.

"Ushi I wish you had desserts. The desserts here are so good." Bokuto said. Rin agreed, Aran complimented the food. I got tons of thank you.

"I wish we ate like this every day." Yaku spoke. I smiled sadly. Being a sport's player must be hard.

I cleared their table gradually. As I approached to pick up His plate, slowly going forward, my ears nearing his lips. He whispered a Thank You. His deep voice was a charm in its own kind.
I took the plate with a soft smile. My ears are now almost red with a little tint blush.  I was glad to protect this stoic but sweet man's secret.
