A/N: Soulmate!AU; when you turn 17, the name of your soulmate is written on your arm. (No Voldemort)

3rd POV:
Percy Weasley and Y/n Lovegood have been best friends since they were kids. The two would always bond over literature. They told each other everything. The two shared the same birthday, so when Y/n and Percy stayed at Y/n's house while Molly had gotten the Burrow ready for their 17th birthday, they found their soulmates together.

"On the count of three, we say them at the same time." Percy said. Y/n nodded. "1. 2. 3."

"Penelope Clearwater." "Ronald Weasley"

The two stared at each other not knowing what to say. She knew how Percy had a crush on Penelope, the two were smitten together. But with Y/n, her soulmate was four years younger than her. She had known Ron since forever, but he was 4 years younger than her.

"Are you mad?" Y/n whispered looking down.

"No, I would never be mad at you." Percy wrapped an arm around her. "It'll be okay, we can just keep this our little secret for now."

"Okay." She agreed. She knew the two couldn't be together at the moment, she was about to go into her seventh year and after become an Auror, and Ron was going into 3rd year.

After their awkward morning exchange, they both changed and made their way towards the Burrow where the rest of Percy's was and her father and younger sister.

"Happy Birthday!" Everyone yelled once Percy and Y/n walked into the room. The kitchen had been decorated in streamers with breakfast on the table and a cute cake in the corner.

After exchanges of hugs and 'thank you' everyone had made their way to sit down and begin eating. "So did you get your soulmates?" The question of the day.

"I did, Penelope Clearwater." Percy gave a small smile. The Weasleys began to cheer for him.

"And Y/n, what about you dear?" Molly asked.

"Oh, I didn't get one." Y/n gave a small smile slightly tugging down her sleeve. It was rare to have no soulmate, some people were just made to be alone.

"I'm sorry dear." Molly frowned.

"No it's alright, don't let my bad news spoil the day."

***

It had been 6 years, Y/n now 23, working as an Auror and sharing an apartment with Percy. Him and Penelope had started their relationship a year ago, they didn't want to seal their bond when they couldn't give each other all their attention. After the fallout between Percy and his family, neither of them had returned to the Burrow. Percy didn't like that Y/n had sided with him, but the two had been through thick and thin, they were family.

Ron was now 19, an Auror in training. He remembered his 17th birthday, it was at Hogwarts when he found his soulmate. Y/n Lovegood, the same girl who said she didn't have a soulmate when she turned 17. He had asked Luna where her sister was, but Luan didn't have the slightest clue, her and Percy had left together to work with the Ministry.

After he graduated, he started his auror training under Tonks. He saw Y/n for the first time in years in the training room, he didn't know what to do and ended up running out of the room.

While Percy and Y/n sat at the kitchen island eating their dinner talking about their day, there was a knock on their door. Percy stood up making his way to see his brother on the other side. "Ron."

"Is Y/n here?" Ron asked looking at his brother. Percy sighed knowing that his brother had found out.

"Ron just know she wanted to tell you." Percy pleaded.

"Get her." Ron almost growled.

Percy had left the door, going back into the kitchen to get Y/n and bring her to the door, once she saw who was there she couldn't help but feel guilty. "Hello Ron."

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.

"Come in, we can talk." She opened the door further and brought him into the living room.

"I was there, I was there on your birthday when you said you didn't have a soulmate, but four years later on my 17th birthday, I see your name pop up." Ron said.

"Ron you were just a kid then, I was 17 on my last year about to graduate to be an Auror, we couldn't be together then." Y/n sighed.

"Then what about the last two years, you could have found me and said something, I spend two years trying to find you." Ron asked.

"You had just graduated and we were about to start training, you didn't need the distraction of a soulmate." Y/n explained. "I know what I did was wrong, but I was just trying to find the right time, but now I've must up everything."

"Don't say that." Ron grabbed her hand. "You didn't mess anything up, I'm here now, let's just focus on the present."

"Okay." Y/n gave a small smile. "Again I'm sorry."

"Stop apologizing, it's okay." Ron laughed.

"Right, sorry. Wait!" Y/n caught herself laughing. "I'm such a mess right now."

"It's fine, you have a lot going on. We don't have to get together right at this moment, we can go slow." Ron explained.

"Okay slow." Y/n squeezed his hand. "Is it too fast to ask you to stay and have dinner?"

"The perfect speed." Ron reassured.

"Do you like chicken?" Y/n asked.

"Of course." Ron answered.
