*** Your POV *****

Smiling you took in the sight of Castle Arulan on your boat. The princess of Picta was, unfortunately, your traveling companion. The king was looking for a bride and a possible alliance. You were more interested in seeing Crowley and Halt bicker all over again. Perhaps even a swords lesson with Sir Rodney?

"I heard that Duncan is the most handsome king!" She squealed for the fiftieth time, if she squealed one more time, I will shove a rock down her throat.

"Fascinating." You respond with a monotone voice. She nearly jumped up and down with joy, when the dock came into view. Sighing with relief that you would no longer have to spend another minute with this overly bubbly princess, practically running down below deck to grab your luggage. Taking only the paperwork you needed, you took your time climbing the stairs. Not very eager to meet the Picta Princess.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Kelly." The girl, whom you now know as Kelly chirped. Stifling a laugh at her puppy-like eyes.

"Charmed, I'm Y/N." You smiled, the girl's eyes widened.

"THE princess of Indus?" Kelly screamed, her voice rising to a high pitch. Nodding absentmindedly you made your way down from the boat. A young man was playing the lute. Your heart was crushed looking at his clothes, just rags, and a tired smile. Reaching into your pouch pulling out one of the rings you owned. It had a pearl with gold flakes around it.

"Where are you going? You might get sick." Kelly scrunched up her nose.

"So? Have you never heard of being with the people?" You shot back harshly, Kelly whimpered and made her way to the castle.

"Hullo there." You spoke softly making sure that pity doesn't enter your voice.

"Hullo, Good lady." The man tipped his hat. Smiling at his manner's you handed him the ring, the look on his face warmed your heart.

"Why... Why thank you." He exclaimed.

"Please go have some food." You told him before walking into the palace. A maid guided you to your room. The maid has luscious brown hair.

"You are very kind milady" The maid spoke.

"What's your name?" You kept a friendly tone.

"What...?" the maid stuttered, obviously surprised.

"Maria" The maid, whom you now know as Maria whispered.

"Well Maria, no need to call me milady. Y/N would work just fine. And you have very pretty hair." You smiled, formalities in your opinion were ways that made people feel inferior. Maria chatted with you till your room arrived. The room was simple and modest, immediately you loved it.

Sitting down on the bed, you pulled your old sword out of its sheath. There was a dent on the blade, it was from when you smacked a bandit with it.

"I should probably get it fixed." You thought out loud. There was a knock on your door.

"Who is it?" You asked standing up. Please don't be kelly! You prayed.

"King Duncan." A cheerful male voice answered. Puzzled you opened the door, and boy was that the shock of a lifetime. There stood the young man that was playing the lute. But he was dressed but better now.

"Well... that was a surprise." You spoke shaking out of your initial shock. He let out a hearty laugh.

"I would prefer if my queen was a kind woman who ignored things like formalities." He chuckled. Raising an eyebrow at that the first few words you rolled your eyes. Duncan turned as red as Crowley's hair.

"Well, if you don't mind I have a sword to fix." You grunted before grabbing the hilt of the sword and starting to climb down the stairs.

"That's a nasty dent! How'd it get on there?" Duncan called out before rushing down the stairs after you.

"I smacked someone." You waved off the question.

"That seems like an interesting story! Do tell." He grinned. Rolling your eyes you started to look for the blacksmith.

"I'll lead you to the blacksmith if you tell me the story." Duncan casually added, sighing you gave in.

"Lead the way." You grumbled.

"Tell the tale." Duncan countered.

"Well, I was going around in disguise like someone I will not name here, (*cough* You *cough*). When this man casually walked up to me and tried to slip my purse out of my hands. He kept tugging at it surprised at my grip. By the 5th time he tried, I got sick of it and asked him. Are you going to steal my purse or not? The guy was surprised but tried again, but I bonked him on the head with the sword. A person's only got so much patience." You narrated. Duncan grinned.

"Well, come on then!" Duncan opened a door, nodding your thanks, you gave the blacksmith your sword. The man took a look at it.

"I'll have it done in an hour." The man nodded toward the clock.

"Care to accompany me on a stroll?" Duncan held out his hand. Rolling your eyes you made your way to the room. Kelly noticed you and Duncan.

"Your Highness!" The girl swooned. Duncan's eyes went wide with panic. He shot a desperate look at you.

"Have you chosen a bride yet?" She tried, batting her eyelashes. It took a lot of effort not to turn around and barf. Duncan had a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Yes." He flatly stated. Your eyes widened with surprise and curiosity.

"And who might that be?" Kelly gushed, adding an overdose of sweetness to her voice.

"Y/N, the ever beautiful and graceful Princess of the Indus." He announced. You nearly fell on your face. You scanned his face for any comical look but no, there was just desperation.

"Isn't that right my dear?" Duncan laced his voice with fake love, but the hidden meaning was: I beg you! Go with it.

"Yes it is, love." You managed to say, Duncan wrapped his hand around your waist.

"If you make me kiss you, my sword will have another dent." You murmured leaning toward him. Duncan hid a smile. Kelly huffed with rage and left. The moment she turned the corner you smacked Duncan on his head.

"Ow!" He winced.

"Fiancée am I?" You snorted. Duncan flashed a cheeky little grin.

He leaned forward and kissed you. Then ran off.

"GET BACK HERE! YOU OVERGROWN ROYAL WART!" You hollered chasing after him.

"Not a chance!" He cried out running twice the speed. You caught up to him and jumped on him knocking him down onto the ground.

"Hmph." You huffed with triumph. He leaned forward once more, your heartbeat started to thump a lot louder.

"I guess we're getting engaged." You whispered. He chose that moment to press his lips against yours.

"I guess it does." He responded huskily.

Somehow, your plan to watch Halt and Crowley bicker then, talk to Sir Rodney about swordsmanship blew up in your face and now you're getting engaged.
