Despite the occasional shake, the journey they'd taken was a smooth and steady one. Jack was quiet for most of the time so far, without counting the noise of him tapping his fingers on whatever he could to entertain himself.
Y/n had only instigated an argument once over the constant noises jack made, which resulted in a long period of silence between the two. The pilot didn't speak anyway, unless he was giving an update on location or answering a question from the passengers. Apart from that, it was a peaceful trip.
"How long until we're there?" Y/n asked as it was a couple hours after the last time anyone asked.
"We're about 3 hours out." The pilot answered back without taking his attention from the path ahead of him.
Y/n sighed and adjusted her position to a more comfortable one, while jack searched through his bag that he'd brought on with him.
While digging through it, he found the uniform he'd put in for y/n, so he took it out and tossed it over to her without looking up, "Put it on."
She pushed it off onto the seat beside her and scoffed at jack, "we've still got three hours, can you shut up." Then she squinted, "what are you doing?"
"I'm out of snacks." He dropped his bag in annoyance and looked at her.
"We're a few hours away, I'm sure romania has food." She sarcastically told him.
"We are gonna die before we get there." He groaned obnoxiously loudly.
She sighed, fed up with him once again, "One of us are, if they don't stop talking."
"Why do you have to be so moody about this?" He scowled.
She cocked her brow, "You realise this is a stupid mission, right?"
"I don't question my orders." His shoulders bounced into a shrug.
"Well, you should. Hayward's just sending us out here to get rid of us." She explained.
"Why would he do that?" A sarcastic tone lined his words.
"Because I'm a danger to his job, and you're annoying." She answered.
He shook his head, "That's not true."
"Where's the lie?" She asked, which made him go silent, "The only reason you don't question anything Hayward makes you do is because you crave his validation so much. You won't dare speak out to him because you're scared he'll make someone else his own personal bitch." She finally let a small piece of the anger she'd built up with everyone conversation with him.
Suddenly, the jet took a harsh shake which forced all the passengers to shift, until it returned to flying smoothly again. Y/n held onto the bar above her without taking her burning stare away from jack.
"Yeah? Well, your problems is that you say every little thing that comes to your head, whether it's right or wrong, you don't-." He started to argue back before the plane shook harshly again. However, this time it was too hard to ignore, "what's the matter? We got turbulence?" He asked the pilot.
"It must be." He shrugged back.
"Aren't you supposed to know what it is?" She asked.
Without checking, he shrugged again, "Right, then it's turbulence."
"God." She shook her head in frustration and rubbed her forehead.
There was a silence for a few moments before the plane shook again, causing them all to shift in their seats.
"Jesus christ, what kind of turbulence is this?" Jack asked.
Y/n squinted, thinking about jacks point, before she decided to get up and join the pilot. The second she stood up out of her seat, the plane shook another time with a force that almost knocked her off her feat.
"Okay, this is ridiculous. Is there not a smoother path we can take?" She leant on the back of the pilots seat.
"I'll check." He looked down, "huh, that's weird."
"What is?"
"The maps are down."
"Great." She groaned, "okay, can you get hayward on the line, please?"
"Yes ma'am." He nodded. After a moment of him flipping whatever switch he could, he leant back in his chair, "Communications are down too."
"Why? How's that even possible?" She asked.
"Probably bad signal." Jack shrugged, mainly to try and join in with the conversation.
With her hand resting on the back of the pilots chair, she turned her head to look at where Jack sat with an annoyed scowl. When she turned her head back, the lights which dimly lit the back of the jet turned off, and the sound of the engines roaring faded out.
She looked up at the lights with her brows furrowed, then down at the pilot, "What's happening?"
"The-... the planes stopping." The pilot looked at the controls to figure out what had happened, but nothing provided him with a good enough answer.
"What? We made sure it had a full tank of fuel, how can it be stopping?" She explained.
"It's not a problem with the fuel, it's the systems, they've just." He paused, "stopped working."
She scrunched her face up in confusion, "They can't just stop working."
The pilot didn't have time to offer an explanation as he was cut off by the feeling of the jet starting to drop. It felt like it had been forced down by a gush of wind from above that was starting to push it down to the ground below them.
In the silence the motion left, y/n looked at the pilot to see his feared expression, "That can't be good."
"Holy shit." Jack started to panic, "Can you land this thing?"
He shook his head, "Not if the systems are down."
"Then what the fuck are we supposed to do?" Y/n asked, starting to panic herself.
"I don't think we have time to decide." The pilot gulped.
"What?" She asked before turning her head up to look out the window.
The only thing visible from the window of the cockpit was the spread of trees which the plane was gliding towards. There was no way they could slow down the few seconds they had left in the air, so they just stayed shocked while watching themselves fall to the ground.
Without taking her eyes away from the nightmare they were falling into, y/n muttered, "Holy shi-." But before she could finish her sentence, the first tree hit.
The wing of the jet struck the tree with a force that snapped the top branches clean off. Despite all the trees it hit, nothing seemed to soften the blow of the jet as it plunged to the ground. It ripped through every tree that got in its way, forcing the leaves to fly away from the branches.
The three in the jet were thrown around, smashing against the walls while the trees smacked against it. The only thing any of them could do was scream or try their best to withstand as much damage as they possibly could.
Then, the jet hit the ground.
