Trying to bake

After gathering as many cherries as the two thought they could, they began retracing their steps in order to get back. Y/n wandered ahead, her eyes pointlessly bouncing from wherever view caught her attention, whereas wanda's eye stayed on one view.

Wanda walked slowly behind, watching every little movement y/n was making, even if it seemed completely meaningless. But, to her, it didn't seem meaningless. Only unexplainable.

"Why can't I take my eyes off of her?" She mentally asked herself, "and why does the thought of something remotely bad happening to her shake me to my core?"

She considered many thoughts along the lines of those whilst also subconsciously being thankful that she was the only one who had access to the brains secrets.

It was mostly silent on their way home, despite the occasional time y/n would mutter a curse word to herself after something bothered her, making wanda chuckle quietly to herself.

When they stepped back into the cabin, wanda placed the basket gently on the countertop with a satisfied sigh and tied her hair back so it was off of her shoulders.

"Are you ready?" Wanda asked, turning to y/n.

"I'm still not a hundred percent sure what we're doing, but yeah." She shrugged.

"We are going to make a pie." She wasn't able to contain her smile, "a cherry pie."

Even though she had no idea if she was going to enjoy a cherry pie, y/n couldn't help but smile at how excited wanda was.

Inhaling a breath of preparation, y/n asked, "Okay, what are the instructions?"

"Wha-." She stammered, "we don't have instructions."

She paused, "Oh- well, do you know how to make cherry pie?"

"No." She bluntly replied.

"Then how the fuck do you think we're gonna make this?" She stared at her blankly, waiting for her to say she was joking. Although, moments passed and she garnered no clarification, "okay, for our own safety, we're not gonna make a cherry pie."

"We should make something incorporating the cherries." She whined.

"Let's make cupcakes and put the cherries on top of them." She suggested.

Wanda paused while she considered it, then repeatedly nodded, "yeah, that sounds good."

Then, with a small twirl, wanda began collecting the items she knew they'd need to make the cupcakes. As she gathered them, she placed them along the countertop in a neat row to lay it out nicely.

"I didn't expect you to actually have all of the ingredients." Y/n mentioned, leaning over the counter to examine all of the items wanda had laid out so far.

While y/n gazed at the ingredients, wanda watched her until she saw her hair sliding off of her shoulders, hanging down, almost in the bowl of flour.

Gently pushing the ends of her hair out of the way of the bowl, she told her, "you need to tie your annoying hair up."

She took wanda's advice, and whilst she began baking her hair up into a bunch on top of her head, she squinted, "how is my hair annoying?"

"You always complain about it being in your way. That's annoying." She answered, watching y/n loosely hold the bunch together with a hair band, "if you'd just let me plait it, then we wouldn't be having this problem."

"I think I can manage." She assured her, lightly resting her hands on her hips.

With a shrug, wanda began making space to be able to make the cupcakes with y/n. As she did that, y/n examined everything on the counter until she noticed that the bowl of flour was inches away from her.

With extreme subtlety, she reached her hand into the bowl, grabbing a small pinch of flour between the tip of her fingers. Luckily, wanda didn't notice her picking up the flour, so she turned back to her with no suspicion at all.

She began to ask, "Do you think we should-."

Before she could finish her sentence, y/n lightly spread the flour across wanda's nose, causing her to completely stop trying to ask her question.

During the time it took for wanda to wipe it off of her face, y/n chuckled to herself while watching.

Instead of getting annoyed, wanda instantly jumped into action, "You wanna play it like that?" She rhetorically asked, her hand diving into the bowl of flour.

"No." Y/n quickly held her hand out upon seeing how much flour wanda grabbed, "wanda, I swear to god, if you hit me with that, I'm walking out of this cabin right now."

"You'd seriously leave before the cupcakes are ready?" She sarcastically asked, teasing the flour in her fingers.

She nodded, "You'd be surprised."

A smirk overcame her, "well, then you better outrun me because there is no way I'm giving up the opportunity to wipe flour on your face."

The second the words left wanda's mouth, y/n darted away from the kitchen to get away from the flour she knew wanda was going to throw at her. Not a second too late, wanda bolted after her, specs of flour falling from her hands at the speed she was running at.

The two stopped at opposite sides of the living room, staring at each other with the only thing between them being the couch. Wanda's stare was fuelled by a confidence and playfulness as she eagerly waited to spread the flour across her face, and y/n's stare was a tense one, awaiting what she knew would happen.

"Seriously, wanda, let's just make the cupcakes." The only reason she began talking was to try and distract wanda to throw her off, "come on, let's just go back over to the kitchen-." She cut herself off when she saw that wanda was listening.

The second she stopped talking, she attempted to run to the side to get to the door and have more space to run free, but her path was blocked before she could leave.

The coffee table was harshly pulled in front of her under the force of wanda's magic, causing her to groan out loud when she realised she was stuck in place.

"THATS CHEATING!" She shouted in frustration.

The second, however, that she turned, she was caught by wanda. Gently locking one of her arms around y/n's neck, wanda smudged the handful of flour across her face, leaving a white imprint of the dust all over it.

With her eyes tightly closed to prevent flour getting in, y/n adjusted to the amount she had on her face before wanda gently held the side of her face with her hand. Wanda quickly pulled her closer to herself, placing a kiss on her cheek purely to leave the mark of her lips in the flour.

As wanda walked back into the kitchen, she was squealing inside at how close she'd now made the two with the action she just did. She was also still calming down from the excitement she gained from the two being so playful together.

Whereas y/n stood frozen in place, trying to adapt to everything that just happened. Even though the flour was all over her face, she didn't want to wipe it off.

Mostly because she didn't want to wipe off the imprint of wanda's kiss, she wanted to savour it for as long as she could.
