I made it home. I showered and read a book before heading to bed. When I woke I cooked a little breakfast then spent half of the day bouncing from activity to activity. Around three o'clock in the afternoon I got a call from Cortney while I was watching a movie on the couch in my living room.

"Harv!" Cortney screamed.

"Huh, what's up Cort?" I ask curious at her sudden excitement.

"I just noticed we don't hang out much after school." She pointed out, In shock. "You should totally come over."

"U-Uh, sure. Where do you live?" I ask, not knowing the directions.

"One sec." She replied. A moment passed and my phone beeped, receiving the location on my GPS app. I checked it real quick.

"You live pretty close to me!" I notify in surprise. That would explain why she continues down the street after dropping me off.

"Mhm!" She agrees.

As I made my way down the street my nerves tensed with every coming step. I looked at my GPS, I was very close to the house. As I walked I noticed a large bright house peeking from around the corner. After getting close enough, the house came into full view. Gosh, she must be rich! On my way to the door I saw a man cleaning a sleek white car in the driveway. He had light brown hair and was dressed very casual. He noticed me staring.

"Excuse me... can I help you with something?" He asked. He looks extremely intimidating.

"I... Uh. Would this happen to be the Paydel home?" I nervously ask.

"Yeah?" The man said, waiting for me to answer his question.

"Oh, uh right, I'm here to see Cortney?" I say more as a question, wondering if she was home. He went quiet for a moment.

"I didn't think you were her type." The guy said, eying me up and down. His stare made me tremble a little.

"You're cute and all but you don't look man enough to date my daughter." He informed.

"Sir, I... I'm not dating your daughter." I clarify. He looked relieved and his hostile look dropped a bit.

"Why are you here then?" He questioned, folding his arms with a rag in hand..

"Cortney invited me over." I say. I began playing with my fingers, nervous.

"Alright, you can head in. If I find out you're lying though, you're dead." He says, motioning a finger across his throat.

"Sir, I can assure you, I'm not dating your daughter, nor do I plan to." I explain. His eyes narrowed.

"Are you saying she's not pretty enough?" He said, upset.

"N-No, sir I... T-That's not what I meant. She has the beauty of a goddess." I assure.

"Then why don't you want to date her?" He shot another question. Boy, this guy is a real hassle.

"W-well I... I'm not... Girls aren't..." I struggle, looking down twirling the tip of my toes into the gravel.

"Oooh, I get it!" He says placing his fist to his open palm in realization.

"Just don't let my wife know that. She isn't very big on gays." He warns. I was relieved he didn't make me say it, but now I have something bigger to worry about, their mom. I head through the front door and look around the house. I didn't see anyone, so I waited awhile to see if Cortney would come to greet me, but what I assumed to be her mom spotted me instead.
