Star's POV

"Hey, Comet, you wanna play a game with me?" Comet looked up from her painting. "Sure" she replied, putting down her paintbrush. "Nice" I took out my wand and wanted to use it to get the game, but Comet stopped me. "Star maybe you should just get it from downstairs. Remember what happened last time?" she reminded me of the fire I accidentally had set in our room. "Yeah, you're probably right" I agreed. "Be right back!" I skipped through the house and passed Marco's room. His door was open and I could see him chopping wood in half. "Whoa. You hate wood, too? Yeah, crush that wood! Wood's the worst!" I cheered. "No, I'm practicing for my upcoming Tang Soo Do tournament" he corrected me. "Oh" I replied. "You see, Star, martial arts is all about honor and discipline. Which is why... I'm going to kick Jeremy Birnbaum's butt!" He exclaimed. "Jeremy Birnbaum? Isn't that the talking bear that used to rummage through my parents' garbage?" I thought out loud. "He's just a creep in my dojo who's only any good because his rich parents buy him fancy equipment and private lessons. But Saturday, he's gonna get a taste of this!" Marco said, stacking three planks of wood on two cement blocks. He swung his hand up and yelled "Hiiiii-YAH!" He cried the last part in pain. His hand snapped. Comet and Marco's parents stood at the door and Mrs. Diaz asked alarmed "What happened?" Marco groaned in pain. "I think he hurt his hand" I answered. Marco's dad inspected his hand and said "We better go to the hospital" Comet and I helped Marco into the car and we rode to the hospital as fast as we could.

The good news was his arm would get better soon and was only broken. The bad news was the arm needed at least two weeks till it was fully healed, meaning he couldn't join the tournament. Right now Marco was lying on Comet's bed while Comet was painting and I was doing my hair. "This is a nightmare! If I can't fight Jeremy, he'll say I wussed out, and he'll never let me live it down!" Marco complained. I used my wand to switch my hairstyle "Pigtails? Ponytail? Pigtails? Ponytail? Pigtails?" I wasn't quite sure what I preferred. Marco sat up from the bed watching me. Then he suddenly said "Wait a minute. You have a wand! You could just fix my hand!" "I'm not sure about that. Those sort of spells are more advanced, and we haven't really gotten far in our training yet" Comet stepped in, adding some green to her paint palette. "Yeah... Oh, but I can give you a pretty wicked set of pigtails" I offered. "Pigtails?"Marco groaned and fell back onto the bed. Comet and I exchanged a look. "Well" Comet said "Maybe if we find a bone-healing spell in the Book of Spells, we could help you" "Book of Spells?" Marco asked intrigued. "Yeah, it's the magic instruction book that came with the wand" I explained and took the book out from under Comet's bed. She kept it there since it was huge and her shelf had no space anymore. "What?! This whole time you had a magic instruction book?" Marco asked. "Yep. Whenever the previous owner of the wand mastered a spell, they scribbled down here" I opened the book and created a cloud of dust. I coughed. "But it's a complete disorganized mess. It's gonna take us foreeeever to find- Oh! Here it is." "Really?" Marco asked full of hope" "Hmm. It's in an ancient language. Releaseo Demonius Infestica!" I pointed my wand at Marco's broken arm. I shot a beam of magic that coiled around Marco's cast. Marco yelped in surprise "I can feel it working! My fingers are tingling!" Comet ended her painting and came over and watched us. However, instead of healing the arm, the spell turned Marco's arm into a long, blue tentacle. Marco screamed. I gasped and started slightly panicking. "Don't worry! There must be a spell in here that can change it back!" I flipped through the pages "I can fix this" I assured him again and again. "Star where was this spell?" Comet asked me. I showed her the place. "Crescenta's chapter? No wonder that happened" She said. "Crescenta who?" I asked her. "You know, Crescenta the Eager? Bunny marks? The younger daughter of Festivia?" she listed. "Oooh, right that makes sense. Great-Great-Great-Great-Something-Grandma Eager always created those weird spells" I recalled and continued flipping through the book. Suddenly, Marco's monster arm knocked the book through my window. "Well, this will be... interesting" I whispered under my breath.

A/N: This time it's a bit shorter, sorry for everyone who wished for a longer chapter '^-^. Have a wonderful day!
