You were on your way to school, but something was weird. Felix wasn't with you. You've known eachother for years, and walking together was one of the many things you liked to do with him. He was your best friend, and only your best friend. Even if you liked him as more than that, he didn't see you the same way. How would you know? 'Cause he wouldn't stop talking about his huge crush on Kiara, the most bratty and popular girl. You never told him your true feelings, and he never seemed to notice, so you just hid them deep inside of you.

You shook your head to get rid of the thoughts and immediately just hurried over to school. Not many minutes pass until you make it. You began to walk around as there was still some time before class started.

"I wonder where's lix...." you mumbled to yourself, a small pout as you missed the boy.

You turn a corner in the halls before you stopped and noticed the crowd of students, staring in the direction in front of you. Looking forward, there you saw your beloved bestie, but he was with another girl.

Don't do it. Don't tell her.

But it was too late.

"Kiara," Felix gulped nervously but stood tall, facing her directly. "I- I um...."

He was trying his best to find the right words but nothing seemed right for him, so he took a deep breath, and shouted it clearly.

"I really like you!!"

His voice resonated through the lockers and it was dead quiet, no one dared to say anything. Everyone could feel the tension building up, and you didn't like it. Why? Why did he have to confess? You knew what was going to happen soon enough, yet you weren't able to stop it.

"Tch, so?"

Kiara had an awfully disgusted expression on her face and she scoffs, twirling a strand of her elegant long hair with her finger. Felix stiffened at the rather blunt response, as if he didn't expect this outcome, but it was obvious. She rejects every boy that isn't higher than her standards, and her standards were impossible to reach. So exceeding that? There was no chance. Not for him, or anyone else.

"Do you know who I am?" Kiara pokes the inside of her cheek with her tongue, unamused by the event playing out. "I'm the Park Kiara. And who are you?"

Intimidation was radiating off of her like some sort of poisonous gas, making Felix unable to speak.

"I'm... L-Lee Felix...." he mutters, voice wavering but he tried to clear it. "We share a few classes together... We were even partners for a project o-once..."

"Oh?" She tilts her head to the side, eyes piercing into his soul. "I don't remember you."

Those words fell onto his shoulders like stone bricks, the heavy realization that she didn't care for him, or even knows of his existence making him feel small.

"If you think that I'd accept this pathetic confession of yours, then you might as well go to the doctor since there's something wrong with your head. Be aware of your worth, 'cause you're nothing but another dumb guy who packages his love for me. And wanna know something else? I take those packages and judge them thoroughly. Most of the time they're hideous, and as I wait for the Prince of my dreams to send me his package—" Kiara smiles innocently before it falls into a cold frown. "—I get dissapointed by the trash handed to me instead. You're no one special, so leave before I throw up from that worthless stench coming off of you."

Felix kept his head down as he bit his bottom lip harshly. Hands balling into fists, body slightly shaking, he puts on a fake mask that said 'I'm fine', before turning on his heel and scurrying away.

He was running in your direction but he didn't notice you, so he ran right past at the speed of light. For the shortest second, you saw the small tears that threatened to escape.

Kiara just watched as he disappeared in the distance, rolling her eyes before going back to scroll through social media. Your blood boiled at how inhumane that snake was and you would've gladly went up to her to throw a punch or two, but someone else needed you more right now.

Sighing, you quickly gave her a glare to which she smirks proudly, before chasing after the heartbroken boy.

Felix was a fast runner, but you were able to keep up since he would continuously trip on his feet. Your body was getting tired but eventually, you were able to get close enough to grab his arm and pull him into an empty classroom. Locking the door, he took moved away from you while trying to hide his face.

"Y/n...." he sniffles, keeping his distance so you wouldn't come any closer, but you went against it and stepped towards him.

He backed away further and further until he couldn't anymore, the wall being there to stop him from fleeing.

"Felix, it's okay–"

"I-It hurts."

You froze, eyes softening at his fragile figure. One tear fell, then another, before he finally broke down. Loud sobs and hiccups filled the room as he gasped for air. You hated seeing him like this. But you hated how he was crying over the meanest girl in school more.

What did he even see in Kiara? She was nothing but a devil. The only thing she had that could've been attractive was her looks. Her personality was rotten to the core, and there was no way Felix would like that. So why? Why does it have to be her?

You've warned him in the past, and how did he respond? He denied the bad 'rumors' and continued to explain why she was so special. She was an angel to him, yet how was he not able to see the horns in place of the halo? Hearing him talk about how much he loved her was like getting your heart stabbed over and over again. The wounds never healed, and it made you lose hope of him ever returning your feelings. You're only his best friend. That's all you'll ever be. Especially if his taste in women is like her.

"It's okay to cry Lix," you whispered and wrapped your arms around his torso tightly, signalling that you were here and he didn't have to face this alone. "We all feel pain when it comes to love, but you need to remember that we can't always have the one we adore feel the same way."

You let your ear rest on his chest, listening to the beating of his heart. It was slow at first, but got faster. Almost as if it was because of you. That's what you wanted to believe at least.

"Kiara isn't meant for you. I know I might sound mean, but it's the truth. People have crushes on another and sometimes it would work out, but other times, cupid would run out of arrows and only shoot one person," you smiled weakly, secretly referring to how you feel.

Felix's gaze lingered on you but you just kept your face to the side so he wouldn't see the wetness on your cheeks.

"There's going to be someone who'll love you back just as much as you love them. And when you find them, you'll realize it. Everything about you will be a treasure to them. Your flaws would be perfection in their eyes, and they'd make sure you know how amazing you are. They'd even adore the smallest details, such as your freckles. They would want to count them like the stars in the night sky. You're like a sun lixie, shining brightly and lighting up the world for them. For you both. They'd love you to the point where they never want to leave your side, and if you're apart, their mind will always be filled with you. Because that's what love does to people."

Because that's what love does to me. You didn't say it out loud, but thought it in your head as a content sigh leaves your lips.

"Eventually there will be someone who feels this way towards you, and who knows, maybe there is one now and you just don't know it," you laugh even though it pained you to do so.

Telling him you liked him as more than a friend wouldn't be right for the moment. He just got rejected by the one he loved for almost a year. But you were here, loving him while keeping your feelings hidden. This was enough. For now. Maybe you could confess in the future. Hopefully he'll realize by then. All he needed was time.

"Thank you y/n. You're right. I'll search for them! I'll look for them until the day I'll be able to call them mine," Felix smiled cheekily which made you nod your head.

Yeah, I'll be waiting.
