RELIGIOUS PRACTICES OF IVC

So not much is known about Indus Valley Civilisation (IVC) so archeologists and Historians move from present to past that is draw parallels to find out more about this civilization or basically anything.

We know that Hinduism was followed in IVC.

Here are some facts to prove it :

1) Mother Goddesses :

Crude figures of women wearing heavy jewelleries and elaborate head dresses are suggested to be that of a goddess.

2) Pashupati Seal :

(The function of the seal is basically that of an Adhar Card and Passport)

Scholars suggest that in this seal, the person engraved is Pashupati Mahadev as he is standing amongst beasts.

3) The Swastik seal :

This is another seal showing Hinduism was practiced.

4) The Great Bath of Mohenjo-daro :

This structure is similar to that of ponds constructed in temples especially in South India where you have to take bath or at least wash your hands and feet before going inside the temples. Scholars suggest this was used for ritualistic practices.

5) Fire altars of Kalibangan :

These altars suggest that fire or Agnidev was worshipped.
