Happy Gita Jayanti everyone !

Today is the day when Bhagwaan Shri Krishna gave the knowledge of Bhagwad Gita to Arjun in the Kurukshetra.

And today I shall share my humble understanding of Gita.

The greatest archer in the world finds himself in such a situation, where he is unable to pick weapons.

This is the warrior who has fought countless wars, battled against even fiercer and stronger opponents, conquered entire northern direction and has remained undefeated in his career.

But in the Kurukshetra the ones he is standing against are his own family. Arjun's mind is bewildered when he comes to know that he has to raise weapons against the people who made him the man he is.

Being the Narottam, Arjun is devastated at the fact that for material gain he has to fight and maybe kill his own Pitamah, his cousins, his friends, his teachers.

Arjun is confused, he wonders whether if all of this is worth it ? He wonders how fighting against his own family be Dharma ? Arjun is in a perplexing situation.

And that's when he turns to his charioteer Krishna, whom he considers his best friend and his mentor. This is how the lord of all gives the precious knowledge of Gita to the whole world through Arjun.

Shri Krishna explains to Arjun, that what is life if not a set of perplexing situations ? He explains that one can never get around material life.

One needs to elevate themselves from this material life and rise above the material aspirations and miseries and surrender themselves to god.

Shri Krishna tells Arjun to do his prescribed duties and not let the fear of fruits drive him around.

The beauty of Bhagwad Gita is that Arjun is confused and bewildered because he doesn't know that Paramatma is with him, driving his chariot.

Once he realises and comes to know that Krishna is the supreme soul of the universe, he is Parmatma, he is the Parambrahma, Arjun gets above all the material miseries and ties and does his duty.

This is basically what life is like. Just like Arjun we also get confused when faced with a perplexing situation, all these material aspirations shroud our thinking, these material miseries creates doubts in mind.

We often wonder whether what I am doing is worth it or not ? The efforts I am putting, the sacrifices that I am making, are they even worth it ?

Because at the end of the day this world is material, this life is material, then what's the point of doing anything at all and suffer ?

But when we realise who Paramatma is, when we surrender to him, then we get above all the material miseries and are able to successfully do our prescribed duties because now we know what the purpose of our life is.

If you read Bhagavad Gita and replace yourself with Arjun, you will find yourself talking to Paramatma and him talking to you. After all Arjun is Nar talking to Narayan.

JAI SHRI KRISHNA.
JAI NAR-NARAYAN.
