VRINDA AND VISHNU

With Tulsi Vivah coming up in a few days, I thought let's clear a misconception.

A story from our puranas that has been dragged and misinterpreted like hell, is the story of Bhagwaan Vishnu and Vrinda Devi.

The pseudo-intellectuals like to claim that Vishnudev raped Vrinda, violating her chastity. And similar half-baked people believe it completely, without cross checking.

And they call us Andhbhakts 😂

Anyway, let's see what the actual story of Bhagwaan Vishnu and Vrinda Devi is. (I'm telling in brief, but do read the full story in detail)

In Kartik Maas mahatmaye, of Vaishnav khand of Skand Puran, the story of Vrinda ji and Jalandhar appears. Here king Prithu, asks Narad Muni why Shaligram is worshipped with Tulsi.

Munivar tells that once after being angry with Indradev, Mahadev was about to kill him but Devguru Brihaspati comes in between and tries to pacify the anger of Shiv-shankar.

Mahadev withdraws the fiery flames issuing from his third eye, and casts it off afar so it does not harm Indradev. He threw it where river Sindhu met the sea. And from it was born Jalandhar.

Jalandhar grows up to be the ruler of daityas and enemy to gods, he is successful in overpowering them. The gods then rush to Narayan and pray to him for help.

Vishnu ji goes into battle and fights with Jalandhar. Their fight goes on for many days, and Narayan becomes pleased with Jalandhar 's valour. The supreme lord then tells him to ask for a boon.

"O Brother-in-law, if you are pleased, grant me this boon. Stay in my house today along with my sister and your groups of attendants." Jalandhar requested.

Narayan agrees and goes to Jalandhar, while he conquers the trilok and then rules peacefully. No one was sick, miserable, or lean. While he was ruling over the kingdom virtuously no poor man was visible therein.

But then Narad Muni comes in one day, and tells Jalandhar than although he has entire Trilok and all its riches at his disposal, Mahadev was still richer than him, because he has Devi Parvati as his wife, who has incomparable beauty.

Jalandhar became afflicted with the fever of love, and now he wanted Mata Parvati. Then, deluded by Vishnu’s Maya, he sent the son of Rahu as his messenger to the three-eyed Lord.

This is what Rahu says, but Mahadev spares him from the attack of Kritimukh, because he was just a messanger.

When Rahu went back and reported to Jalandhar, and the whole body of Jalandhar became agitated with anger. Surrounded by a crore of Daityas, he quickly marched out to attack Kailash.
