Uttar Ramayan....mixed opinions right ?

Shri Ram gets a lot of hate for this part of Ramayan as to why he denounced Mata Sita. Some call him misogynistic for this while some call him insecure.

But have you ever thought whether Uttar Ramayan happened or not ?

Some scholars say that it didn't happen because the style in which Uttar Ramayan is written is different from the Valmiki Ramayan. They say the original Ramayan ends with Shri Ram's coronation.

You only think, Ramayan is a very detailed description of Shri Ram's life from the moment he is born till his coronation. He is such a flawless character. He wages a war against Trilokadi-pati Lankesh Ravan, one of the most powerful beings just to bring back his wife.

Throughout the tale, all his decisions, his character, his morals are extremely righteous. He is a perfect man, a perfect son,  perfect prince, a perfect brother, a perfect warrior and a perfect husband.

Now how did such a perfect man turned into such a flawed character over-night after the coronation ?

Scholars suggest that Uttar Ramayan was added as a propaganda to taint the image of Shri Ram.

I too have a mixed opinion about whether it happened or not. A part of me says it didn't while a part of me says it did happen.

But even if it happened from how I see it, Shri Ram's image is still not tainted. Hear me out.

Ramayan shows Shri Ram as a son, a brother, a husband, a prince, a master and a warrior and he is perfect in these roles. But Uttar Ramayan shows Shri Ram as a King.

The people of Ayodhya, don't have faith on Mata Sita because she spent a year in Ravan's Lanka. Now this creates a feeling of distrust among the people towards their Queen, and was leading to people not trusting their King either.

So to give people a sense of trust, a sense of security, The King denounced the Queen. Shri Ram didn't denounce Mata Sita, Raja Ram denounced Rani Sita.

Had he denounced Mata Sita, he would've married another for Ashwamedh yagya, but he didn't and rather puts a golden idol of Mata Sita next to him. This tells us that the husband never denounced his wife.

Mata Sita was pregnant at the time, she was going to give birth to Shri Ram's children. But Shri Ram still sent her away. This shows he kept his people above his family and his happiness.

Now you only tell which ruler do you want ? Someone who keeps his family over his people ? Or someone who keeps his people over his family ?

Ramayan shows Shri Ram as a perfect man while Uttar Ramayan shows that he was also a perfect King. That's why we worship Raja Ram and dream of Ram-Rajya.

So whether Uttar Ramayan actually happened or not, Janakivallabh's image can never be tainted.
