Chapter 21

Chapter 21: Comforting Shoyo

True to his words, Hinata just took a rest the day after they tour Santana and his Wife. Ushijima still visited them after his practice. Bringing Akihiko's favorite, Cake. Hinata scolded him privately as the redhead doesn't like to let Akihiko eat cake as much. To say that Akihiko can finish a huge cake by himself is not an overstatement.

And after that day, is the day Hinata will once again show his skills on the court.

Ushijima and Akihiko sat on a uppperbox of the gymasium. People around them sneak glances at them since Ushijima is kind of a celebrity (being a well known player who took part of Rio Olympics) and it's a rare sight seeing the Famous Ushiwaka watching in an Uppperbox with a child in his lap.

Look at that. Didn't knew Ushiwaka has a child?

Yeah. I always thought of him as just a volleyball person who never goes for a relationship. Guess I am wrong.

Yes that's a shocker. And Ushiwaka never mentioned this in interviews right?

Maybe he just don't mention about it. He just oozes that kind of vibes right?

Yes. Private kind of vibes.

But look at the kid. He's so cute!

Even though the kid looks like Ushiwaka, the kid looks very cute and gentle. Not that Ushiwaka isn't. He just looks so... Intimidating?

Ushijima just sighed. At first he thought that he shouldn't care wherever he sits. He didn't care much of the gossips and such anyway. But now, he thought maybe this is a bad idea especially Akihiko is with him. He can't expose Akihiko into this kind of people.

Looking at Akihiko who also didn't care to listen to people around him, focusing on his Dada who's warming up, Ushijima now shrugged his worries. Maybe he took that after me. Or Shoyo?

He heard the caster announced that the game finally is starting. With of course Shoyo again in the starting line up alongside Meian and Tomas as middle Blockers, Inunaki as Libero, Miya Atsumu being setter, and  Sakusa Kiyoomi and Oliver Barnes as Wing spikers.

He saw Bokuto pouting in the benches. Seems like Bokuto is now chosen to compromise since the coach choses Barnes, Sakusa, and Hinata to be the Wing Spikers in the starting lineup.

The first set was taken by the Black Jackals. As Miya shows his superior skills as a setter, tossing great sets. Thr three wing spikers scores almost evenly. Not gonna mention that their Middle blockers and their Libero are great too. (Even Ushijima will admit that their defense are hard to deal with). Shoyo still shows how he is still the greatest decoy since highschool, decieving their blockers into blocking him where Barnes or Sakusa will hit it unexpectedly.

The second set was close. But won by the opposing team. The last point was taken from Shoyo's wrong recieve. Ushijima notices that Hinata moves slower. It isn't obvious for some. But those who saw how fast the red head moves, they know there's something wrong.

Third set barely started when Hinata drops to his knees in the middle of the court. As Ushijima stood up worriedly, a faint smell whafts on his senses. He knew that smell and he could tell that it's probably Shoyo's pheromones.

Hinata's heat is starting today?

Ushijima found out of course that Hinata's heat doesn't come like normal would. Which you can expect in set days. But Hinata's heat came in irregular basis. And both he and Hinata never anticipated for it to take effect now.

Ushijima, with Akihiko in his arms, rushed down to get Hinata out of the court. In Ushijima's mind, he thought that he should take away Hinata as soon as possible so the other Alphas won't be  affected to the red heads pheromones.

And when he arrived to where his team are, he saw their manager helping Hinata out to bring him to the infirmary. Ushijima volunteered and carried Hinata in his arms whil e Santana and his wife who are also watching the game held Akihiko then followed them.

The attendant checked Hinata for a while and confirmed that Hinata is indeed in heat. The attendant asked them to go out for a while to let Hinata rest but Ushijima insisted to stay (explaining that he can control himself around Hinata). The attendant seems to be convinced since Ushijima looks okay around the red head's now raging heat. And seeing how Hinata held Ushijima's hand tightly and nodded his way, the attendant finally decided to walk out of the room.

Hinata groaned. "U-ushijima, this feels like a dejavu."

Ushijima held Hinata's hand tighter. He knew what Hinata meant by that. And he knew how this affects Hinata today.

"Hush, my love. It's okay. And I know this time, even without you there, Im confident that your team will win this match. They're all strong." Ushijima comforted him

"I just felt that it's going to be like Nationals back in Highschool all over again. And I think I'll disappoint my team now that I-"

"Listen to me Shoyo. They won't be disappointed to you. They surely understand what happened. No one had expected this. Even you. And then again, why would they be disappointed when they'll going to win today's match? You trust Bokuto right?" Ushijima said.

Ushijima's chest tightened seeing Hinata like this. Hinata is always head strong. A positive ball of sunshine that's spreads positivity. But now seeing Hinata overthinking thinks such as blaming himself on his teams possible defeat, Ushijima thought that he should be the one giving Hinata a strength to be more positive.

It took half an hour for Hinata to finally calm down. He left Hinata's side for awhile to talk to his team about Hinata's current state. And then to the infirmary's attendant to tell that he can bring Hinata back home.

Night came and Hinata is still down about what happened. Though he heard that Black Jackals still won the game by winning the third set.

Bokuto smiled reassuring to Hinata, and says that he saved the day while the real hero is down for a while. Atsumu said that of course Bokuto isn't alone cause his tosses also saves the game. And that started the two's friendly bickering. Meian assured him that they did well and they won't be winning the game without Hinata's effort for the first two sets.

That lifted his mood for a little. But that doesn't mean he's not sad about it at all.

Ushijima is beside him all the time after that. He made sure that Hinata won't dwell on what happened. He took some clothes from his house and decided to stay at Hinata's house all throughout the red head's heat. (Which surprisingly approved by Hinata's mother).

And on the last day of Hinata's heat, Hinata apologize to Ushijima.

"Hey Ushijima. Sorry that I broke my promise. I didn't get to go out with you and Aki the day after the match. And I know you are disappointed too "

"No. What's important is that you're okay. I won't like it either if we go out with your pheromones everywhere. I'll go crazy if some random Alpha smells you." Ushijima said, half kiddingly

Hinata hummed. Deep inside, his heart swells by the fact that Ushijima is sometimes possessive of him.

But we're not even officially together.

Hinata sighed. He knew one of this days, they need to clarify what they are going to be. And he knew that he can't give Ushijima what he wants if he still didn't forgive the brunette completely.

Isn't loving Wakatoshi enough for you to take him?

His eyes widened. Now he finally admitted it to himself subconsciously. He's now in love with Ushijima Wakatoshi. But the problem is that he can't openly admit it now that he still haven't moved on from the past.

The end is near. Yet I don't want to end this yet. The pacing is just too fast. Sad.
