'And I bet she told a million people
that she'd stay in touch
But all the little promises, they don't mean much
When there's memories to be made
And I hope you're holdin' hands by New Year's Eve
They made it far too easy to believe
That true romance can't be achieved these days

And even if somehow they could have
Shown you the place you wanted
Well, I'm sure you could have made it
That bit better on your own
You are the only ones who know'

Winter was in full swing, bringing sleet and winds to Hogwarts.

"The Yule Ball is approaching — a traditional part of the Triwizard Tournament and an opportunity for us to socialise with our foreign guests. Now, the ball will be open only to fourth years and above — although you may invite a younger student if you wish — "

A few girls had let out a shrill giggle at McGonagall's words, nudging each other in the ribs as they fought not to giggle. A few eyes turned to Hera, but she put it down to people wanting to know if she would be going with Cedric.

"Dress robes will be worn, " Professor McGonagall continued, "and the ball will start at eight o'clock on Christmas Day, finishing at midnight in the Great Hall. Now then — "

Professor McGonagall stared deliberately around the class, "The Yule Ball is, of course, a chance for us all to — er — let our hair down, " she said disapprovingly.

Hera caught Ange's eye and pressed her hands to her mouths to stifle the sound of laughter. For a moment, she had forgotten Ange and her weren't on the best of terms, and the realisation came most unwelcome.

Aside from slight digs at Hera's past with addiction and Ange's lack of responsibility, neither had said anything too terrible.
Hera had every right to be angry, but the problem was she wasn't anymore — she wanted her friend back, and though things were certainly less tense, the awkwardness remained there. Both were far too stubborn to get over their first 'proper' argument.

"But that does not mean that we will be relaxing the standards of behaviour we expect from Hogwarts students. I will be most seriously displeased if a Gryffindor student embarrasses the school in any way. "
