Sirius had been perusing a number of books splayed out across the dining table, which he was more than content to discard of upon Hera's return home.
He did not ask how her visit with her aunt went — he had a feeling it wasn't anything positive.
"I'm sorry I didn't want to believe it, " she muttered into his ear, "I'm pregnant, I know it. I shouldn't have been so upset or pretended otherwise. "
He sighed, falling back into the chair behind them. Unable to express the various emotions he felt overcome with at that moment, Sirius placed his firm, callused hand over her abdomen.
"We'll figure it out, " Sirius told her assuredly, "You know I won't let anything happen to you. It will be okay, one way or another. "
Hera nodded, her arms resting over his shoulders as he caressed her.
Truthfully, she did not know how they would figure it out. At that moment, she wished nothing more than to be a normal Muggle girl so that their situation would merely involve dealing with the anxieties, excitement, and new challenges that becoming a parent for the first time presented.

Her mother was gone, and though she wasn't entirely clued in on her whereabouts, she had guessed it involved Harry — while Remus was just down the road, retrieving books from Hera's grandparents' home to bring back for his and Sirius' research.
For what, she didn't know. If she had to hazard a guess, it would be to do with Harry's mission from Dumbledore — she doubted Remus knew either, or else he would've told her. There was very little they didn't share with one another these days: sharing a baby with someone and watching them be so attentive as a father will inspire those feelings of connection, whether wanted or not. Perhaps she did want that further emotional connection with Remus; she'd certainly considered it recently.
