┏━━━━━━━━━━┓ chapter seven: facing the music ┗━━━━━━━━━━┛
"CAN'T YOU LIKE, SIPHON THAT OR SOMETHING?" Hayley asked worried for the girl in front of her.
"Remember when I told you witches help keep the balance in nature?" Leviana asked, earning a nod for Hayley. "When my siblings and I became immortal, we upset the balance in nature. In order to somewhat regain the balance, I can't siphon certain things, like werewolf bites. Things like that." Leviana continued to look through a bin for things that can help Hayley find her family.
"You don't have to help. I can dig through the werewolf antique show on my own." Hayley assured. "Besides, if you can't siphon that, shouldn't you put some kind of ointment or something on that?"
"I don't believe there is enough medicine in the world to fix this . . . gift my brother gave me." Leviana's voice grew fainter with the last for words. "Besides, it's not like the bite will kill me. Like my bastard of a brother himself, it's more of a nuisance than really anything."
"Good, because I'm eventually gonna need a ride home. . ." Hayley paused before picking up something from the ground, "and thanks, by the way, for staying out here. You didn't have to."
"I know, but you said the people of this village are all of the family you have left. I can relate."
There was a moment of silence before Hayley came to a realization, "you're thinking about Klaus."
"Perhaps I was too willing to blame him for something, maybe for the last millennium of my life," She turned to look away from the wolf before speaking again, "For the emotional and physical abuse." She said those six words in a whisper. Hayley had just barely heard what she had said and gave her a sympathetic look. Leviana cleared her throat and began to talk again,
"In the thousand years that we have been together my brother has committed numerous unspeakable acts, but, then again, so has Rebekah, so has Elijah, so have I."
"So did I the last time I was in Cabo." Hayley deadpanned. lWe all do bad things. It's just most people die before the list gets embarrassing, but don't for a second compare yourself to Klaus."
The two shared an intense stare not realizing how close they were. They both looked away and Hayley let out a small chuckle.
"It's like a freaking hotbox in here. I'm gonna get some air." Hayley stated walking out to the door. She stopped, seeing a book on the ground. She looked around, hoping to see the person who delivered the book.
"Someone left this here." Hayley said showing Leviana the mystery book. "It's a bible with a family tree that goes back generations."
"What are these names? Who is Andrea?" Leviana asked, she was scanning the paper hoping to find a familiar name.
Hayley finally came to a realization, "I think I am. That's the day That I was born."
✰
Leviana was on a very uncomfortable bed in a very uncomfortable situation. She was in pain, seeing visions of things she'd rather forget, the real side of stories that she'd never want her brothers to know, that she'd never want Elijah to know.
"Here drink this." Hayley said handing her a cup. Leviana drank it but immediately threw it up.
"Hey, you'll be fine nothing will ever happen to you, I promise." Hayley said wholeheartedly before getting up to take off her sweater. "Remind me to annihilate your brother once you're healthy."
"Not if I do it first." Leviana coughed.
"Doesn't help that we decided to shack up in the middle of a swamp either." Hayley mumbled as she walked outside, she was about to go looking for anyone who could've left the book when Leviana let out another round of horrible coughs.
"Are you okay?" Hayley asked with her voice filled with genuine concern.
"Yeah, I'm totally fine, just got a bite from a hybrid, and the hybrid just so happens to be my older brother." Leviana laughed. "You can continue reading your... whatever the hell that is."
"Well, I went through the whole thing. It's just a regular bible with an entry in the family tree that may or may not be me, but you know I've been a little busy worrying about you."
"Thank you," She said with a smile while Hayley looked at her with confusion. "For worrying about me, not a lot of people would do that for me." She still had a genuine smile on her face until it dropped with a more serious look. "But, once these hallucinations begin, I'll start to see things. I will start to say things. When that happens you must leave me."
"I'm not leaving you like this." Hayley said being her normal, stubborn self.
"Has anyone ever told you that your stubborn?"
✰
Hayley was out by the water left with her thoughts and feelings of Leviana Mikaelson. She knew she felt something towards Leviana, she just didn't know what she actually felt towards her. She'd also be lying if she told you Leviana didn't make her question a lot of things about herself. She was interrupted by another round of coughs.
"It's okay. It's okay." She assured as she climbed onto the bed, putting the Original's head into her lap.
Hayley started seeing visions of a girl, a dead girl, she was lying on the ground in a white dress. She faintly heard Leviana mumbling 'I'm sorry' numerous times.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to—" At that point she was sobbing accidentally siphoning from Hayley every few seconds.
Leviana was pulled from her trance, unaware of where she was or what was happening until she pieced it together. "Hayley, I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else and that I—" Leviana tried to find a way to sugar coat, but she found herself unable to do so. "I killed you."
"Celeste?" Hayley asked. "Whoever she was, you must've cared about her, you were sobbing."
"No, I didn't, Elijah did. One day, I got...angry, and Celeste paid the price. Klaus found me right after it happened and took the blame for her death. Elijah hated him for so long after that . . ." Leviana trailed off and started crying and the memory, "and when he found out that Klaus was innocent and that I had killed her, he was so angry with me." Leviana's upset face was replaced with confusion. "Did I let you enter my thoughts? I'm not well I need to go." She said trying, and failing, to leave.
"This is fine. Lev, you're sick. I'm taking care of you." Hayley assured, making Leviana relax a little.
Leviana looked around, feeling another set of eyes on her, she was trying to find the the eyes, only to come to a realization,
"We're being watched." Hayley got up and stormed to the door. She must've saw someone because she ran out of the cabin screaming at someone. But she couldn't run fast enough.
