┏━━━━━━━━━━┓ chapter thirty: the death of you ┗━━━━━━━━━━┛
AFTER AN HOUR OF SEARCHING, Elijah and Leviana entered Saint Ann's Church. "Hayley!" Elijah shouted.
Through blurred vision, Leviana could just barely make out Hayley's figure laying in Klaus' arms with a dark red liquid across her neck. The smell of blood confirmed her worst fear: Hayley was dead.
"No," She breathed. While Elijah inched closer to Hayley's lifeless body, Leviana stayed glued in her spot. She stared at Hayley in disbelief. Her first thought was of the baby— Hayley's baby would now have to suffer the fate of growing up without her mother.
"She's gone." Klaus said quietly, "you've been bitten." Klaus bit into his wrist and offered it up to Elijah.
Once he drank from Klaus' wrist, Klaus held out his arm, signaling for Leviana to come over to them and feed from Klaus. She slowly walked over to them and bit into Klaus' wrist. When she was done, she gently picked up Hayley's body from Klaus' arms and carefully placed her on the alter.
"How did this happen?" She asked, not looking up from Hayley's body.
"I was bested." Klaus said with a voice little of emotion.
"You were bested?" Elijah repeated. "You... were bested?!" He roared. "My invincible brother?"
It was that moment that the memory from a few months ago in the bayou had flooded her mind.
"It was the baby's blood— Klaus' vampire blood. Your own child healed you."Rebekah said.
"Yelling won't solve anything, Elijah." Leviana said in a terrifyingly calm tone. Leviana was hoping— praying that Rebekah's words were true, and if they weren't, Leviana wouldn't know what she'd do. "The baby is still out there. We can save her. It's what Hayley would want." She said, now facing to turn them.
Her brother's looked at her with surprised looks. They expected her to blow up or yell or break something, but she didn't. Instead she stayed somewhat calm.

The three siblings walked through the cemetery and searched the place up and down for any sign on the newborn baby. Unfortunately for them, they weren't having any luck.
"The tombs are empty, the grounds are deserted. She's not here!" Elijah exclaimed.
"This is the only place they can be— we'll keep searching." Klaus argued.
