Hello my dear readers!  I've missed you so much!  My heart is still recovering from last weeks long, painful chapter but this update will start our healing.   I hope you like this one!  Enjoy!

Sizhui watched in horror as Suibian flew into his father's back. That horror turned into thoughtless terror when Lan Zhan fell to his knees in Wei Ying's arms. His rational self fled screaming from his mind upon seeing his dad tear out his own core, then crawl over to his husband before collapsing on top of him.

He watched silently. Both of his uncles sobbed uncontrollably. They each held their brother's dying body in a futile embrace, their arms searching for a way to keep Wei Ying's and Lan Zhan's souls from leaving this world. Shock imprisoned Sizhui's emotions deep inside him. Sounds around him were muffled. Hands touching him were ignored. He waited to wake up from this nightmare.

**punch**

Jin Ling's fist landed squarely on Sizhui's curved jaw. A-Yuan stumbled backwards from the unexpected blow.

"The talismans, Sizhui! Use your talismans!" Rulan screamed, trying to reach his semi-conscious friend. "You can save them!"

Without tearing his eyes away from the two men he loved more than anything, Lan Sizhui reached into his sleeve and pulled out two paper talismans. He held them up and looked at the symbols he had written on them weeks ago.

Would they work? Could he do it? Was it possible? He hadn't even experimented with them yet. What if he did more harm than good? What if.......

"You can't hurt them anymore than they already are, idiot! Do it!!" Jin Ling shouted, pushing the Lan junior toward his parents.

Lan Yuan shook himself free of the fear chaining his feet to the ground and rushed over to where his fathers lay motionless.

"Move!" he ordered.

Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng both looked up at the youngster but refused to let go of their siblings. Sizhui looked fiercely at Xichen who knew exactly what his nephew was asking him with his dark brown eyes.

"Heart stopped. Meridians in disarray. Qi unsteady. Core intact. My energy is helping. But........he's dying." Xichen channeled his inner Wangji, providing A-yuan with the information he needed as quickly as possible. Yet, he also knew his short words were a product of the fact that he himself could barely breathe. Pouring all his spritiual energy into Wangji was physically weakening him. But, the sharp pain of seeing his baby brother's life slipping away in his arms made clear, concise thinking impossible.

A-Yuan then looked at Jiang Cheng who also gave him an abbreviated assessment.

"Heartbeat extremely weak. Breathing shallow. No core. He won't last much longer."

What else could he say? Wei Ying, his shixiong, was dying and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it. Jiang Cheng had thought he was so strong, a clan leader, a top cultivator. But, his strength couldn't keep the one thing he desired most from leaving him forever.

Sizhui showed them the talismans he held in his shaking hand but the two mourning men just stared blankly at him.

"You have to let them go until I activate the talismans." Sizhui said calmly. He purposefully used the voice he had learned from listening to Xichen comfort Wangji over the years. "Then you may hold them again. Please. I can save them." A-Yuan begged.

Jiang Cheng and Xichen looked into each other's tear-filled eyes trying to find strength from the other. But, there was none to give right now. Both men's hearts were dangling from a fingertip's grip above a ravine that held a world without their brothers by their side. Reluctantly, they placed Wei Ying and Lan Zhan together on the grass.
