Chapter 22

Elliot

Amelie hasn't been the same since she left the meeting last night. I tried to reach her through our mind link, but she blocked me.

Last night she wasn't in our room, she was instead in one of the guest rooms on our floor. I couldn't sleep properly because she wasn't with me.

This morning, she came to our room to grab some toiletries, and ignored me the whole time. Even now as we sat eating breakfast in our kitchen's breakfast nook, she still haven't spoken to me.

I can feel her disappointment and anger at us through our bond.

As I sat staring at my plate, I couldn't help but think of everything that transpired, how we got to where we are.

When Adrian called me and told me that Bella shifted into her lycan form, initially I was shocked, but the shock was quickly overcome by fear.

I knew I had to come back immediately to find her.

'We can't let her get away!' Almalic yelled at me.

'You think I don't fucking know that?!' I yelled back at him.

I shut him out after our internal argument, and I told Amelie that there was a situation at home so we needed to head back immediately.

Thankfully I had Lucas and Tristan with me, therefore I was able to leave them to handle the treaty, while Amelie and I go back home.

When we arrived and Adrian told us what he and the pack did to Bella, I was shocked. So when Amelie asked if I knew Adrian would try to kill her wolf, I confirmed without thinking.

'You should've kept your fucking mouth shut, now Peige is ignoring me too. You fucking twat' Almalic growled.

'Watch who the fuck you're talking to' I retorted. He grunted and retreated into the back of my mind.

I was brought back to the present when Amelie got up to empty and clean her plate.

I walked up behind her and held her around her waist.

'Please, don't continue ignoring me. I can take anything, just not this from you' I whispered in her ear.

'I promised Melinda and Jasper I would take care of her if anything ever happened to them. You knew I did, yet you did this...why Elliot?' she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I sighed, 'I'm sorry my love, but I cannot tell you why. Just know I did it for us, all of us. She wasn't one of us anyway, you know it' I whispered hoping she would stop this farce and we can go back to the way we were.

'If you find her, do you still want to kill her wolf?' she asked, her voice still low.

'It must be done Amelie' I told her, kissing her delicate neck.

'But why Elliot?' she asked again.

I didn't respond, instead I held her closer to me, feeling her rigid form relax.

'I promise, I'll explain everything as soon as I can, until then, can you just trust me? Trust that I wouldn't do this without cause?' I said once she was completely at ease.

'Okay' was all she said before turning around and pecking me on the lips.
'But I want to know as soon as possible' she continued before walking away.

I smiled at her retreating back.

'We're back in their good graces' Almalic said.

'Yes, I'm happy the goddess blessed us with them' I returned.

It is true, I am blessed. Amelie and Peige may not be the brightest chicken in the flock, but they trusted and loved Almalic and I unconditionally. She was the light to my darkness and I wouldn't have her any other way.

After she completely disappeared from my sight, I sat back down to finish my breakfast.

Eating absentmindedly, my thoughts went back to Bella.

I can't believe she fucking escaped.

Adrian, that fucking idiot.

How could he let her escape?!

I gave him a month. A full month to kill Bella's wolf. And he made her run away in a matter of days, and her fucking wolf hates us.

The dumb fuck.

I thought he would've just had her mate reject her or some shit, some torture here and there in the form of whippings, but he did more than I could have imagined.

Apparently I taught him well.

Too well.

And now she's fucking gone. I need to get her back. I've come too far for my plans to fail now.

No whatever the cost, I will get her back.
