HAYDEN

As we sat in the car, It looked like Brittany wanted me to sit beside her in the front but I was already behind with Piper beside me.

I leaned on Piper's shoulder, while she rests her head on mine. We were already into the power nap but still, Jake's rant on the first seat was crystal clear to my ears too which Brittany wouldn't stop giggling.

I don't know how long it took for us to reach the restaurant but we were awakened by Jake.

"Good morning sleepy head." Brittany greeted as she clasped her hand tightly around my forearm.

Jake was giving P a piggyback. While she slept like a baby.

"Can you still have Cherry pie every day?" Brittany asked as we walk towards the restaurant.

"Oh yes, of course, I do sometimes" I revealed. "how do you know?" I asked her out of curiosity.

She didn't answer, just smiled at me.

Now, what is that supposed to mean?

"We are here" Brittany announced as we stand outside of the restaurant.

It was an open sea-facing restaurant.

The wooden seats were adjusted on the sand. On the top is the open sky. It was a great place for sky gazing and having a sip of the drink, minus the people around, they're too noisy. There was a sheltered area too.

The soft music playing behind blending with the sound of waves accurately. And the fairy lights around are cherry on top. Everything about this place screams GREAT COMBO.

Sacrificing my sleep wasn't a bad idea.

The counter was a bit ahead. The restaurant looked old and cozy.

And oddly familiar...

I decided not to overthink it, and go with the flow for once.

"I'll go order for us" Jake announced excitedly.

"I'll go with you" Brittany let go of my hand and headed with Jake.

"The place isn't bad to be Brittany's choice. I would have whoop Jake's ass if it wasn't worth enough my sleep." She confessed and let out a small yawn.

It made me chuckle.

"You don't seem to like Brittany much?"

"It's not like that, I neither hate nor like her. I simply just don't care." Piper confessed.

"Is it true that we were too close as kids?" I inquired.

"Well, I don't know much but ever since I met you I never heard of her from you until the Summer Camp when I first met her. And you were close to her in the Camp."

She continued

"Brittany seemed to have a huge crush on you back then. She use to not let you be with us and cry all the time for your attention. She was annoying back then, few things never change."

I can't help but wonder how I don't remember her, at some point, I started feeling guilty for not remembering someone who was once my friend.

I hope I didn't hurt her by not recognizing her. Should I say sorry, because I do feel sorry? I'll apologize once she is back.

"Don't you think they're taking too long?"
Piper asked annoyance visible in her voice.

"Probably Jake testing his luck with her" I replied to annoy her more.

She punched a fist on the table ahead as she stood up, "I'll go get them." She let me know as she headed towards where Jake and Brittany left earlier.

Now I'm the only one left.

The restaurant was nearly empty. I stood up and wandered around the area.

The Night We Met by Lord Huron playing in the background. I vibed to it, I felt peaceful and lost in the singer's booming voice.

"HEYY, SCOOT OVERRRRR" someone yelled from behind making me jump and turn behind.

Some random person, was on the white delivery bike, with a violet helmet on her head, just drove in.

By the voice that just screamed, I assume she is a girl..she rushed towards me as she just left her scoot behind.

She had an Apron on, with a restaurant name over it 'Blasta'  She might be a worker here.

"Oh god, are you alright??" she asked.

That's when her startled eyes met mine.

"Hayden!!! My purse is actually in our car, can you please go with me to get it?" Brittany come out of nowhere and clutched my forearm.

"Yes," I responded my gaze still fixed on the girl in helmet right in front of me.

"Thanks, babe" Brittany replied beside me before dragging me outside.

I turned back to look for the girl, the spot was empty. She left already??

"I hope you don't mind me calling you BABE, I'm just used to calling it to my friends, and yeah, sorry." Brittany explained apologetically.

Wait, She called me Babe? When?

I didn't know what to say so I just nodded as I walk with her even though I don't know where we are heading to. Maybe washroom?

She ranted, and I didn't hear a word she said; I was lost in my thoughts. Or her thoughts. The helmet girl.

I kept walking as we reached her car.

"We are leaving already? We didn't even had anything yet." I asked out of curiosity. And we can't leave without P and Jake.

Brittany took out her purse and held it in front of my eyes.

"I needed my Mobile and it was in my purse, I told you already." She pointed out.

Making me feel some type of way.

Even though it was a few minutes ago I bumped into that girl and now I'm here in the parking area with Brittany. My mind still hasn't moved from those past minutes.

It is still there. Maybe my mind believes the girl is more than just a helmet girl I met.
