Cracking seamlessly through the part in the curtains where it had been roughly drawn shut, the bright golden streaks of the morning sun streamed into the apartment paired with the sound of the birds chittering and the light breeze bringing a draft to sway the curtains.

The atmosphere was serene, a calm soothing feeling that lingered lightly at the time progressed to nine am.

Footsteps gently padded down the wooden steps, the slightly dim downstairs area as light mainly streamed through the kitchen whereas the living room curtains were drawn shut with only a crack of light allowed to surpass.

She emerged to the bottom of the steps, her eyes lightly grazing the surroundings as she hesitatingly walked closer.
Not wanting to make a noise in case she startled anyone, Mark's Mum reached the living room area to see Milo still fast asleep in his dog bed.

Subconsciously, her eyes trailed over to the sofa where she was taken by surprised. Sitting on the sofa fast asleep was Yeonhee, her head resting back against the plush soft sofa. The figure of her son laid with his head on a pillow which was resting on the girl's lap and her hand resting on the curvature of the crown of his head.

She halted, surprised by what she had stumbled across but something about it made her eyes soften and lips gently displaying a smile of warmth.

Throughout the years of being separated from her son, she often wondered if Mark was doing okay. Did he have someone to rely on? Someone who cared for him and to make sure he was okay?

But after seeing the both of them, her mind was put to ease.

Mark was fast asleep, his arm bent so his hand rested on his chest while the other one dangled off the sofa. The tv was still on, illuminating their position brightly so his Mum decided to switch it off- walking away to let them be.

It was only an hour or two later when the girl was brought to consciousness from the sound of clattering.
She began to become aware of her surroundings, noises less distorted and more feeling appeared to her skin.

The scent of food gently intertwined with the morning air, the heaviness of her eyes causing it to be harder to even open them.
Becoming more alert of her surroundings, the heavy weight on her lap made her nose scrunch up as the memories from yesterday hadn't flooded in yet until she looked down.

Her mind was blank momentarily, eyes casted on his sleeping features in which he looked so peaceful, forgetting what was actually happening in that moment and the sound of a pan clattering caused her heart to jump.

Oh fuck.

Yeonhee's head snapped up, over towards the kitchen area where Mark's Mum had her back turned while she was cooking, Yeonhee then turned her attention to her lap with her eyes widened.
