Falling onto her knees first on the ground with heavy breathing, her face contorted into a frown. It was the 20th time she got her steps wrong and she was very disappointed with her capability of dancing. She was known to be one of the most reliable dancers in the department and she acknowledged her own privilege but seeing her own tired and sweaty reflection, insecurities and doubts started crawling up to her mind. What was wrong with her that day?

As if the universe was answering her, the door to the dance room swept opened, revealing the distraction that made her lose control of her movements. The black-haired boy entered with an ice-americano in hand, not realizing the crisis she was having at the moment as he greeted her with a nonchalant 'hey', a simple greeting of one peer to another. She cussed underneath her breath as her level of insecurities started to increase with his intimidating presence.

He was the new recruit in the same dance department as hers and they only have exchanged a word or two when they both were left in charge for the upcoming event. To say if she were not impressed with him being chosen to handle a big responsibility despite being new, would be a lie. She was not only impressed but at the same time, she couldn't help but to feel hostile and competitive towards him since the comments of their instructor affected her ego really badly.

Without realizing, the boy had already stood beside her as he saw a little mistake in her movements. He saw how she was struggling but had refused to say anything and him being oblivious towards her own dilemma, he opened his mouth and let his advice rolled out of his tongue naturally.

"You should relax your hands and feet more, that's why it looks weird."

The girl froze in place, the breath she didn't realize she was holding finally escaped in a harsh manner, her fists clenched unconsciously. Seeing her unmoving at her place, he approached her a little closer and her breath hitched feeling the warmth of his hands on hers.

He placed his hand over hers, guiding her slowly in her choreography, the other slipped down to her other hand that was on her waist.

"Are you okay? You seemed very tense..." he asked, his soft voice travelled to her ears and her cheeks flared up in embarrassment of being caught.

Snapping out of her trance, she softly pushed him away, clearing her throat, "Just a lot in mind. I just want to be alone for now if you don't mind. I'll manage."

He heard the slight harsh tone in the end and seeing her troubled expression, he decided to leave her alone, respecting her wishes. Moving towards the other space in the room, he focused back on his own routine, rehearsing his self-made choreography with the beat that was playing softly in the background, in courtesy to not distract the girl on the other side of the room.

But she was distracted, getting lost in the boy's flawless, delicate and controlled movement of his passionate dancing. His facial expressions translated well with what he was trying to express along with the upbeat yet melancholic melody. How did he do it? His movements seemed effortless and he looked very confident with every step he did. Feeling the familiar feeling clenching in her heart, she stopped midway her routine, turning off the music from her side with loud footsteps which caught the latter's attention.

I need to set this ego aside...

The pride she once felt suddenly diminished as her desperation and helplessness overcame her being. With her shaky voice, she called out to the boy. He immediately stopped in his steps, without pausing his music and went to her side. He was even surprised seeing her glimmering eyes and how red they are.

"Can you help me?"

A hand on her shoulder, rubbing small circles on it, he nodded in response to her question. Her eyes lit up for the first time in that dark miserable night but upon his next words, she was utterly bemused. The small smile turned downwards to a frown.
