The boy leaned against the wall as he panted, recollecting his breath. Footsteps were heard near him and he prayed that they wouldn't find him. Not here, not now.

"Ah fuck! We lost him!" one of them frustratedly yelled.

"Just when we thought we could rip his mask off. He's fast!" another one whined.

"Enough! Let's just go home."

With that, the footsteps slowly faded away and the boy who was holding his breath finally sighed in relief.

That was close.

"Were you out again?"

Chan rolled his eyes as he looked at his seatmate, who was also his best friend, Aya.

"What is it to you if I did?"

She pouted and pointed to his cheek which has a pale bruise. Realizing what she had pointed, he felt his heart stop beating for a moment.

"Oh, this? I fell off my bed and landed face-first." he explained, hoping that she would buy it.

There was a moment of silence with only her scanning him with a scrutinizing gaze. He kept quiet and nervously; he felt his back started sweating.

As if she had done her scanning, she slowly looked away and a sheepish smile formed on her lips.

"Better be careful then, Chris."

Aya was at the vending machine and she bought a sports drink for her friend, who was on his way after he was done with his soccer training. Also, a chocolate milk for herself.

"Hey!" Chan called from across the hallway.

Aya waved at him and he went towards her as they both walked together to the bench at the yard. She passed him the drink that she bought, earning a small 'thank you' from him as she sat.

"So, what you doin' tonight?" Aya asked as she sipped on her chocolate milk.

Chan sat beside her and shrugged.

"Maybe just sleeping." he answered, nonchalantly.

She chuckled, "Sure, buddy... And to have your face bruised again?"

Chan sighed and rolled his eyes, mumbling a 'shut up.'

He turned to her, "You?"

"I have to babysit." she sighed.

He snickered which the girl gave him a glare in return.

"It's not gonna be that bad." he assured her as he opened his drink and gulping down the liquid.

"Yeah, but I really want to go and watch the fight. I've always wanted to see one." Aya whined.

His drink went down to the wrong pipe upon the word 'fight' and he started coughing madly. The girl beside him looked at him worriedly, patting his back.

"Deep breaths." she told him as she rubbed circles on his back attempting to calm him down.

As he calmed down, he looked at her with an undecipherable look, but his aura was cold to her that she felt something was wrong.

"Chris?"

He stood up abruptly, he didn't know why but he felt so angry at the moment. He started walking away from her, leaving her behind but she followed suit. She grabbed him by the hem of his shirt from behind.

"Hey, did I say something wrong? Why are you-" her question was cut short when he turned to her, an obvious scowl shown on his face.

"You promised me that you wouldn't watch a fight. Then, what the heck did you just say?" he demanded.
