—'He's gone'
All you could do was stare at the ground in disbelief. The man who was smiling at you not too long ago had died in your arms. Why did this happen? How could you have prevented this?
You were sitting on the floor inside the medical shack at Sukuna's palace. Inside the door you sat next to was where Megumi's dead body was held. A lady with dark eye bags had took Megumi away from you to see if there was a chance of reviving him with some sort of trick—cursed energy, anything. You begged her to do all she could; and now you had to wait for the results. You felt bad for making her job harder. The women seemed exhausted enough, yet she had to deal with you crying and trying to hold onto megumi for dear life when it was time for her to take him. You felt so empty. He died in front of you.
Your best friend,
The man who secretly loved you.
The wooden door you sat by had slid open as Mei stepped outside before closing the door back. Despite her young age, Mei was great when it came to medical help. She was helping the woman inside with Megumi's body—you honestly felt bad that a girl as bright as her had to see that. "Hey...(Y/n)." She starts and sits down next to you. "Did you find any ways?!" You quickly asked desperately and went a bit closer to the girl. Mei gave you a glance of absolute guilt before tears began to form in her eyes. "I'm sorry!" She cried out, bawling her fists and wiping the tears as they fell. "It's all my fault!" She began to cry out and you were shocked at her sudden emotional outburst. "What's your fault?" You questioned as you patted the girl gently on the back.
It took her a minute to gather herself so she could speak. "I'm t-the one who told Megumi that it was okay to set up where he did. I recommended it because it was one of the prettiest places in the palace." She then covered her eyes, "even he knew it wasn't safe! And when he began to question it, I told him that he was just trying to wuss out! If I had never recommended that spot or tell him not to switch up plans, then he'd...he'd..!"
Without listening to anymore, you reached out and pulled the young girl into your embrace. She seemed shocked as you held her tightly. "It's not your fault, Mei. You knew Megumi was strong and that there were other strong people here—so I'm sure you thought everything would be okay. You're not the one who killed him! It was that bastard.." you found yourself glaring at the floor. Just the mere thought of mahito made you want to go on a rampage. "He was one of the only ones who actually took care of me and Akira! If t wasn't for him and I-Itadori...we probably wouldn't be here right now! And I let him die!" Mei cried out as you stoked her hair, trying to get the girl to calm down. You knew mei had witnessed plenty of deaths in her time here. So you knew Megumi's death must've really had an impact on her if she's crying like this. Not to mention Akira ...oh, how you feared what her reaction would be.
This wasn't the time to be selfish and bottle yourself up in your room all week. As much as you'd love to do that—you had other people to comfort. The look on Itadori's face after Mahito ran away was devastating...you should talk to him soon as well.
The door then opened once more and the woman walked out. "I apologize for interrupting the moment." She started and you smiled softly at Mei before breaking away from the embrace. Standing up, you looked at the doctor with hopeful eyes. "Please! Tell me you found a way to revive him! Fix him! Anything!" You raised your voice on accident which caused the lady to frown. "I'm afraid I'll need another day or three to figure it out. Not only were all of his organs crushed, but some were ripped out as well. Based on what I've collected, it seems that whatever left that huge hole in his stomach contained a lot of cursed energy. I'm suspecting he was impaled by a curse binding attack." She began to take off her cloth gloves. "There's a low chance of him being revived. I honestly think you should make him a grave for now. The chances of hearing from him again are slimmer than my pay." The woman sighs heavily before giving you a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
"Get some rest. I can't let you see the body until I'm done with it. But rest easy. And thanks for the assistance, Mei. I'll need it again tomorrow." The woman then gives a weak smile before walking down the wooden hallway and leaving the medical shack.
"I should tell the others about the news," Mei sniffled as she stood up. "I still can't believe he's been gone since last night.." mei mumbled weakly. It was early in the morning currently and all night you didn't get a wink of sleep. You sat by this door crying—thinking—and praying for everything to be okay. "I know great master is going to be furious.." mei starts and that's when your mind clicks.
Where the fuck was Sukuna?!
He helped last time when you were in danger—so where was he this time?! Maybe he wanted Megumi to die just to see you suffer?! Mei must've seen the furious expression that began to grow on your face. She then gave your hand a gentle squeeze, "don't be mad at him. I'm sure something must've came up. Great master needed Megumi for something important. He'd never let Megumi die willingly. Besides Gojo-Sensei should've been with sukuna-" mei then goes quiet as her eyes widened.
"I have to go!" She yelled, snatching her hand away as she began to run down the hall.
"Mei-!" You yelled after the girl. Despite wanting to run after her,you didn't. You simply stood there and gave a pathetic chuckle. "I can't.." you start trying to hold back tears. Your mental state was truly lowering the longer you spent your time here. "I need to talk to Itadori..." you bit your lip and shook your head. Now wasn't the time to cry. You wanted to check up on the pink haired male and make sure he was doing alright. Maybe you two could comfort each other. Yeah, that's what you needed.
You turned around to give the room once last glance—
But by the door you saw Gojo and Sukuna.
They both stared at you; Sukuna's expression unreadable while Gojo seemed...conflicted. Instead of being spooked by them suddenly being there, all you did was clench your fists and look down. "You're late.." you mumbled lowly, finally looking at them with a harsh glare. "He's already dead."
You didn't mean to be so harsh. It wasn't their faults that they weren't there. It wasn't their faults that megumi died. But just the mere thought of them being there and how it could've changed the entire outcome of Megumi's life...well, it made you angry. Gojo stayed silent before walking past you and entering the room where Megumi's body was. The door slid closed and now you were standing in the hallway with Sukuna.
"Human emotions are so tiring," sukuna sighed out but there were no hints of him mocking you or being annoyed. You looked him in the eye—ready to say something, but he had reached his hand out and used his sleeve to wipe away your tears. You flinched slightly from the gentle gesture before looking at him from surprise. He bent down and looked at you in the eyes;
"Stop crying and tell me what happened."

"You left so early.." gojo found himself kneeling to the ground. His hand gently held Megumi's as Gojo took off his blindfold.
———————Sometimes I enjoy the idea of my readers crying their eyes out and falling into a deep never ending pit of sadness from a chapter.
Of course, I doubt I have the writing capabilities for that~
