You stood in the palace's greeting room. Past you and down the hall were the large doors to the execution site. Long red carpet with yellow lines on each side made a path in the room. Itadori informed you that Mahito would make his way over to the greeting room soon. Today...would be the last day you ever saw him. Today would also be the day you get answers from him.
The sound of footsteps approaching caused you to turn around. Dressed in prisoner-like rags, stone cuffs holding his hands together, blue hair a mess, stood Mahito.
"You're alone?" You'd comment, puzzled on why there was no one by his side to his execution. He only gazed at the hallway; seemingly admiring the decoration. "There's no need. Even if I wanted to escape, I wouldn't be able to. My only destination is through that door."You turned around and gazed at the large two sided doors. They were a rich light mid-brown, and inside that room would be the end of Mahito. You turned back to face him and crossed your arms. "You don't seem scared."
"There's no point." He'd answer. Knowing him you weren't shocked. This man didn't seem to even appreciate life. He just played around until all his karma finally caught up to him. Brushing that aside- you came here to ask Mahito a few questions about the past. The past that only he had the information to. This would be your last chance to achieve such details from him.
"I'd like it if you could-"
"You want me to tell you the story of your past that you can't remember?" He'd cut you off, a knowing smile on his face. You stayed quiet for a second before nodding slowly. "Yes...that. I want to know what happened back then. I'd appreciate it if you could give me both your side and mine." Mahito stopped looking around to face you. "I knew you'd ask. It only makes sense. I mean, you were probably troubled with broken memories. Ah, you can trust what I say as well. No need for me to lie to you."
"Well? There's no point in lying. I'm glad you realize that." You said, waiting for him to start.
"I was never the lying type. Misdirecting and betraying? Sure, now out-right lying is even against my moral code." He'd joke around, but upon not seeing you amused, he shrugged his shoulders and began to speak again.
"We met thanks to that boy. I followed him after hearing he ran off with two of the gem shards. Every curse was after them at the time, you see. Unfortunately for my plans, I found you the night he left. Apparently you both held onto the gem. You told me yourself; after all. 'Me and him hold onto the gems! I can't show you mine, either!' You're direct words, (Y/n)-chan."
"How did we become acquainted?" You'd ask and Mahito moved his shoulder back, allowing his blue hair to fall behind his shoulder. "I see you're in a rush for answers. Hm, Somehow we ended up amusing each other. You seemed rather fond of me, (Y/n)-chan. So desperate for a friend. So for those two years I kept you company. I tried to keep my distance—but you just wanted me near so often! I even turned into a boy around your age to play along! I began to grow fond of you as well. A bit.. too fond." Mahito gazed away.
The girl had just placed the flower crown on the man's head. He sat on the soft grass, legs criss-crossed as he leaned forward. "(Y/n)-chan, don't you want another friend your age?" He'd ask, and the girl seemed to think. "I mean yeah...but you're not that old!" She'd exclaim and the blue haired man shook his head. "Wrong~ wrong! I'm way older than the average!" he'd start, and the girl gasped. "R-Really?" She looked down at her hands, holding them together, "I mean...I would like it if you were my age...but that's impossible."
