Chapter 50

My tone was surely about to go higher when I felt Jeremiah's arm snaked on my back.

So, I paused... and calmed myself.

"I knew about your stuggles even when you don't share. I knew it that's why I tried my best to find an aid."

And I thought Sechan Dew Russo was the best help I can get.

"I heard you and Mom before. Your rivals were trying to put you in jail by dragging your name into dirty works! I heard when you said you don't need help from small time businessmen, that's why a Russo was what I thought the help we needed!"

I am catching my breathe everytime I pause.

"We almost don't see each other at home because you were always busy-"

"We are busy for your future!"

"You mean yours, not mine!"

"I knew that our business was failing and you badly needed investors to save it-"

"What do you even know about business?! You weren't even a help!"

Whenever Daddy shouts, I can't help but close my eyes and everytime I do, my memories of him when I was a kid keep on playing. I know that they don't really like me that much, pero noong bata pa ako, kahit papaano ay mas mahaba ang pasesnsiya niya at hindi kami nagtatalo ng ganito.

"Why?" I asked. "Do you want me to help? You don't trust me for being a girl, right? That's why I am nothing to the both of you!"

"That is not true, Amanda! You are our daughter!" si Mommy.

"Really?"

Natawa ako.

"Then why do I feel like I'm not?"

"We gave you everything!

"Do you know how hard it is to stand a meeting with his arrogant father?!"

"You're not doing it for me, still, you're just doing it for yourselves..." nanghihina kong sabi.

You just saw us together and you already assumed way beyond."

"You don't have plenty of friends.

This is not going anywhere.

Well, at least they know a fact about me not having many friends.

I don't believe they were just concerned about me. Or maybe they are, but they are way more concerned with our business and names.
